The tail lights on my '65 New Yorker are cracked and one is broken. Several years ago, I bought a set of red tail lights, the housing, (entire piece.)

Will this fit my car?

Yes they will fit but the wiring harness is different. If yours had the clear ones it only has one bulb where the red has two. I just sold a set of clear tail lights to a member here who was changing to clear from red. Luckily I had the tail light harness that I included.

Thanks. I guess this means I have to look for the wiring harness.

The clear set I have is a two bulb unit, one bulb behind each reflector, and my original red only had one.

That's weird. Here's a picture of the clear ones I sold to a member. And "duh" I didn't even think about swapping lenses.

I don't know where I would get a lens, but I do have the housing for the red tail lights and have the lenses. FYI everyone, I checked my car and my clear lens housing has two bulbs. So, there are three bulbs per side: one for the backup lens, and two for the clear lens piece.

I also don't the bolts in the same location, like you do. Maybe I have a red tail light housing and someone before me put in clear lenses.
Just remove the 8? philips screws that hold on the chrome trim, and the old lense will pop off, and the new one will fit in place. Re-install the small screws to hold the trim, and you are done.

If you have two of the red "domes" in your housing then it is an original clear lens housing. The red lens housings did not have the mounting surface for these bulb covers.

My car's clear lens housing has two bulbs. The lens for the one section that holds the small rectangular red piece is cracked and split into to two pieces. I will save the clear lens, sure.

I'll unscrew the nuts inside the trunk, the ones that hold the chrome trim (4 nuts per section - left side) and see if things come loose. Will take a few photos and let everyone know how things turn out. Thanks.
