Yet another C-body listed by Classic Auto Mall on AutaBuy: 1970 Chrysler Newport For Sale | AutaBuy.com

CL23L0F112249 must have been repainted (the V1X vinyl top is missing, and so is the related trim). The original color combo was a cool one, EA4 Platinum with L4R9 burgundy vinyl bench with pull-down armrest interior. Let us just say that the redone interior could use another redo...

From the ad:"For consignment (...)

Exterior Bathed in light green metallic, this long luxury cruiser presents in good condition, has straight steel, good gaps, and large inset bumpers. The front and rear decks are like football fields, long and flat, and a trim spear runs the gamut from stem to stern. Window trimmings are all shiny and nice, and standard wheel coverings are on all 4 corners.

Interior Oxblood vinyl and broadcloth adorn the interior which is all in very nice shape. Same for the dash and door panels. (...) Floors are more maroon thick pile carpeting, and the headliner is maroon broadcloth which is nice and tight. Drivetrain Under the hood is a numbers matching 383ci V8 (...) It has a single 2 barrel carburetor atop, and an A727 Torqueflite automatic tranny on back. The rear axle is 8-3/4 inches. A Flowmaster exhaust is now on.

Undercarriage Underneath has spotty surface rust, and certainly no invasive rust or structural problems. Some road dirt is also noted on various parts of the suspension which is independent torsion bar front, and leaf sprung for the back. Power drum braking is on all 4 corners.

Drive-Ability A big car with the biiiiig car ride, it has smooth acceleration, bias free braking, and silk like shifting for the automatic tranny. The AC is not working, and the radio will not turn on.

Fender tag decoded by the seller, with corrections by yours truly. @69CoronetRT @cuda hunter will like the tag, @saforwardlook will like the lack of vinyl top.

I actually prefer vinyl roofs on Chrysler 2 door models but I prefer that the vinyl roof color does not contrast too much with the body color that tends to diminish the nice sweep of the C pillar part of the top as it merges with the rear deck. But overall, to me at least, a vinyl roof adds class to the vehicle that makes it worth it in either case over none at all.

The interior a a far cry from original as noted. While the car is in nice condition it appears the interior is very unoriginal such that it seems to be pushing the boundary of what that particular car would be worth to me at least.

With the original colors, that would have been a beautiful car!

Currently, Odd. Light green with Oxblood interior.

I actually like the Oxblood colors, not the seats. Platinum with Oxblood is pretty cool.

Drivers fender paint seems not to match?
I think the paint matches, but the fender isn't properly aligned. The front at the bumper is a touch high, and the bottom by the rocker needs at least a quarter inch shim, and pushed forward.

The black steering wheel looks odd. Anyone know if it would have been burgundy originally?

I cannot recall seeing a factory rim blow steering wheel installation where the center pad didn't match the color of the rim itself. Someone likely took creative license would be my guess......................

i just sold CE23L0F165427, i dont know how to post photos of the car on this site was a real nice car, red R6, white top, white bucket interor looking for another VERT (70 300 would be my 1st choice )

Well, that's not very creative. Possibly the original one was in worse condition? Or this could have been one of Ma Mopars liberties given the rare interior colour. Crimson, not oxblood, or burgundy. I'm leaning towards it being replaced. Your center pad statement makes sense, had they have used the black pad, I might not have noticed.

Headliner seems on the bright side too.

You're in the right place!

Congratulations on an easy sale! Just log into the website with your phone, that will make adding photos much easier, it's the only way I do it.

Are there any other pages? There should be some all vinyl options, it does have DR8 on the tag. I only have the '71 books. No Crimson in any lines. E8 is russet, M9 is burgundy.

If memory serves, crimson red was the paint color.

I can't find any information regarding crimson, or interior code DR8. I'm not even sure why I'm so interested, probably because I've never seen that interior colour, and it looks great!

Does your 1970 option code book have any mention of DR8? Looking closer, it's the interior door frames coded for R8 crimson, with the seats being R9 burgundy. That seems odd.

Damnit! I'm getting sucked into the code vortex!

I think you're right. The color seems to change some at the rear, too. Seems like the color gets darker as it gets closer to the bumpers.
It's probably special broker's photography settings doing it.
Which ironically makes the car look ever-so-slightly green - which is not helping things at all!

E8 is a 71 color only.

R9 is Ox Blood. That would be the seat, door panels, carpet and headliner color. With a few other things that color.
The Dr8 should be the upper door frame color. Unless I am mistaken.
I see no mention of R8 on the upper door frame color.
Although the door frame is called out in the original post, DR8: Crimson Int. Door Frames

Would like to see a real Ox Blood interior. Been looking for years. Same with Russet

If I just don't look at the horrible seat inserts, the colors on the door panels look original and look awesome!! I do like this color interior.

I agree, the colour of the interior is great! And really doesn't look quite burgundy, which usually is a little more of a dark red/sort of purple. Perhaps it's the camera settings. They say it's light metallic green, yet appears solid beige to me. Those "boring", "appliance" type colours do look great on these cars however, as you've mentioned, the change from silver does seem strange.
