Union Park Ponttiac, somewhere on Pennsyvania ave, Wilmington, Deleware. Circa 1960. 1960 Catalina out front.
Company still in business, but I think their modernist dealership (built 1949) is gone or remodeled beyond recognition into a corporate "brand box".
Disitinctinve modernist "Pontiac" plylon is certainly gone.

Good reuse story. Forner Carolina Cadillac, 304 E, Market Street, Greensboro, NC. Built 1921. Its a downtown location, vying for historical designation, but I'd love to turn into a hobby house.

For some odd reason, that building reminded me of the police station in the TV series "Banshee".
These former, urban, small town dealerships always get my attention. They have HIGH ceilings and/or TWO stories, usually can use the roof as parking and/or the backyard, around 25K square feet. concrete everywhere..
On the downside, IF they need environmental remediation (ground, asbestos, etc) they will BREAK the bank unless you can commercially get that back, can't get residential zoning, historical designations/aspirations, HIGH utility bills, the nicer neighborhoods tend to make acquisition costs out of reach.
I am still looking for the right one as retirement nears ....

It would be interesting to know how much the dealership paid for those oriental rugs back then because they ain’t cheap now

I think rugs like that were very common at one time. I remember when I was a kid, we had a similar rug and it was a bit old at the time. I can tell you it wasn't something expensive because my parents would not have spent the money on it.
Chances are they aren't a genuine hand woven rug.
