Were any 1968 and later C-Bodies manufactured with standard 15"x7" steel wheels (not police package)? If so, any specific year, make, model? Thanks.

''Yes B&E-Body in 70 71 72 73". So, yes for C-Body from '70 to '73?

I have had several C Bodies with 15 x 7 wheels on them that I have parted out over the years and still have 2 sets of 4 now for future projects. Now, were they factory installed or previous owner added? I don't know for sure.

No.

Alan i no longer have my 70/71 parts book. What exactly does it say for Cs ?

No C-bodies were factory equipped with 15"x7" steel wheels until 1978 with the extra heavy duty police wheels, part number 3766077, which were only on the Gran Fury and Royal Monaco police package cars. 15"x6.5" steel wheels were the largest 15" steel wheels available on C-bodies otherwise.

Edit: This is not completely accurate. I have struck through the erroneous part. See post number 11 for updated information.

Those models were discontinued in 1977. No C-body cop cars for 1978 unless they got a Newport (believe it or not a few departments ordered those.) My '77 parts book lists a 15x6.5" as the heavy duty wheel. "Police Wheels" with the rally slots weren't even a thing until 1978, before that they were regular stamped steels. Ironically my small block R body got 15x7s, as if it really need them...

Thanks for pointing this out. I've updated my original post to point to this one and added some more information here.

The 3766077 was available on B-bodies and F-bodies in 1978. A 15"x7" non-heavy duty/police wheel was available for the Newport and New Yorker as part number 4094120. This wheel did not have slots, and was typically used for the wheel cover shown in the following image:

A similar wheel cover with different dome also using wheel 4094120 was available on the 1978 B-body Cordoba.

The 1978 Newport was available for fleet sales, as was the New Yorker Brougham although the New Yorker was likely not purchased for police use.

1978 was indeed the first year for the extra heavy duty, or police, 15"x7" 3766077 wheel with cooling slots. My 1978 B-body Fury police was factory equipped with the 15"x7" 3766077 wheels, and although my 1977 B-body Fury police car was factory equipped with the 15"x6.5" heavy duty wheels, I added the 3766077 wheels.. My 1979 R-body Newport police car was factory equipped with the 15"x7" 3766077 wheels as was my 1979 Volare F-body police car, both E58 360 powered. I have 3766077 wheels on some non-police vehicles as well.

I'm going to be using the 15x7s I got off of a mid-80s Diplomat. $150 for all 4 at a local wrecking yard.

The M-body 15"x7" wheel is an excellent alternative to earlier 15"x7" steel wheels. As mentioned, they are relatively inexpensive and common on 1980s M-bodies. Almost any Fifth Avenue will have them, if not already swapped or grabbed.

The 15"x7" wheel used on most M-bodies, so equipped, is part number 4126675. This wheel was released in 1980 for use on M-bodies as well as R-bodies, F-bodies, and J-bodies and replaced the 4094120 from 1978-1979. Both of these wheels are lighter than the 3766077 wheels and do not have the full perimeter center or cooling slots. They are similar to the 1970-1971 2944450 15"x7" wheel, but not exactly the same, yet much less costly.

I have the 4126675 on my 1969 Road Runner (yet to be re-worked and painted), and have a couple of sets in reserve, one set for possible use on my 1970 Charger 500.

Example of a 4126675:

78 Salons had 15x7 black painted road wheels with an aluminum "fascia basket", these wheels were also on the 78 Magnum and optional on some other models

The aluminum fascia wheel shown did use another specific 15"x7" steel wheel, part number 3766067. It is similar to the earlier 15"x6.5" Class 2 styled 16-slot wheels, but painted. Although it is steel, painted black, and covered, it is different than a "regular" steel wheel of the type like that shown in post #14.

The aluminum fascia wheel was also available on Fury and Monaco. It carried over into 1979 on Magnums.

every one of the late model 15x7 I've found have the holes drilled for some sort of center cap, like attached. They are also PN 4126675. Not a big deal as i plan to run wheel covers or dog dish anyway, but I was surprised to see your wheel sans additional center cap holes.
