NOT MINE 1971 TNT Newport sedan

So, The U code is not a TNT motor? Correct? Or am I misinformed?
The T code is the TNT motor?

VIN to another U-code '71 Newport (a 2dr none the less!) a friend used to have 20 years ago. Unfortunately back then nobody knew or cared much about C-bodies and it got parted out :(

Don't say nobody bro. It was an uphill battle defending these beasts at 14 years old, 45 years ago.

So we have CE23U1C162669 (parted car) and CL41U1C156640 -- hopefully someone saves this really cool GJ4 sedan.

@fury fan -- would you do it? It is GJ4 and a U-code, with a black split-back vinyl bench and all the comfort accessories, so it is very very hard for me to pass.

I’d snap it up if I had the means to buy it and take care of it. It’s not my favorite color, but the car is still better looking than almost any 2025 ride.

BTW my iPhone’s word suggestions are just plain weird at times:

It looks incredibly honest. Even has the 71-only air cleaner and 71-only VC breather.
Body looks nice and straight and all the gaps look decent.

If it were local, for $2200 asking price, I think I would have asked a buddy about storage already.
It would be a bad decision (I need fewer complications, not more) but this is a 1/lifetime car. Even if only to clean it up, get it running and drive it for a few years.
(although I have a particular car that I cannot seem to accomplish that with)

I looked at it again this am, and the more I look the more amazed I am by the little things.

The carpet is even in good shape.
The interior looks like dust, not mold, based on hte drivers doorpanel.
Both doorpanels look decent, what we can see anyway, and the carpet is even serviceable.
The underhood paint is really good, and the TNT piepan looks as good as a used one can.
I'm betting a professional detailer could make this car a night/day difference on this car.

Even the washer bottle looks like it's 90% intact.
And the biggest one: This car still has its heat stove on the HP manifold. Amazing.

What remains to be known, though, is how 'nicely' they removed the engine, how much they cut/hacked.
But seller's description of the engine assessment suggests someone with at least a certain amount of sense and consideration. (complete sentences and punctuation!)

Selling as non-running. Engine was pulled and inspected, because oil light would not shut off. Ran only at an idle like this. Oil was slimy and separating, causing oil pick up to be mostly plugged up. While it didn't look like there was any damage, unfortunately engine will have to be taken apart to make sure of any possible damage.

@ayilar I think you should buy this and get it to Wyatt's or somewhere so that someone in the FCBO group can make sure it survives.

Since I'm pretty much the closest person on this site to this car I have reached out for a more serious conversation with the owner. Hopefully, more to come.

I’d like to buy it and get it back on the road, but it’s a long way from TN. I’d either have to store it until I had time to roadtrip out to get it, or have it shipped.

Usually, your problem is mine.
Not that many cars or especially parts in Colorado.
I have to drive half way across the country to find the cars and parts.
