1977 New Yorker Commercial

I never saw any of those commercials. I was on my 1st overseas tour with the 11th Armored Calvary Regiment. Patroling and defending the Iron Curtain. There was only ONE tv channel. AFN (Armed Forces Network). It came on at 6am for 6 hours and then replayed everything again from noon to 6pm. No American news or sports programs, just AFN News broadcasted by someone in uniform. No civilian commercials. Stars & Stripes (cost 10 cents) newspapers were the only newspaper available back then unless someone mails you newspapers.

Wow, that must have been tough...almost complete isolation over there.

Yep, very tight control of civilian media on AFN-TV back then. It's a lot different today. CNN, Fox News is broadcast daily. Some sports but still no civilian commercials. VCR taped stuff from the "World" (United States) was coveted. We saw VCR tapes and couldn't believe they allowed Married with Children on the air in the U.S.

It is if you feel like you're Al Bundy and the only place you can escape all the stupid people in your life is sitting on your Fugerson - the cadillac of toilets - reading a copy of Big'ons...

I bet Stan has seen every episode. I have.

I remember that commercial. Jack Jones was popular with the "easy listening" set back then, and appeared on many of the variety shows popular in the era - Dean Martin, etc. My mom always commented on his crooked nose whenever he was on TV.

Watched every episode with my hand tucked in my waistband. Pamela always had to leave the room....
