How many shade tree mechanics does it take to change a light bulb?

Does anyone know if you can change the lightbulb in a fender turn signal for a 1967 Plymouth Fury III? My passenger side is out and after removing the allen head screw from underneath and spraying with half a bottle of WD-40 and Zepco liquid wrench, I can't seem to get what I think is the bulb and socket to budge. Any help would be appreciated.

Allen head screw? There should have been hex nuts I believe. Please correct me if I am wrong. Pic?

I tried a few different methods of separating the unit and ended up snapping it off. So...I bought some clear LED's off the net for $5 along with a small dab of silicone and they work like a dream and are much brighter than before...and at an expected life of 60,000 hours, will likely never need to replace them. Some day I'll get ambitious and replace dash lights also so I can actually read the gauges at night.

I cut the old socket off and re-wired to the new LED's. The LED's are very small and light so I attached them to the existing amber plastic piece with the silicone.

Awww I sense a shunning coming your way. Me however, congrats on working outside the box and making your own solution.

The right side was already broken off and dangling in the wheel well so I needed a solution. The LED's come with a built-in resistor so installation was very easy and inexpensive. I can take shunning...while sitting in my car watching my fender mount lights blinking brightly:sign13:

No pics of the LED upgrade project? I love "how to" articles...

I have a set I got from a parts car. the amber lens would not budge I ended up breaking them trying to get them out. i bought a set of new ones on e-bay for $38.oo and new bulbs for $5.00 . the base of the lights broke off in the socket. i had to use a pair of neadlenose pliers to remove the base. they work fine when i put 12 volts to them from a battery from my cordless drill. now I just got to get the measurements of where to drill the holes to mount them as my car did not come with them. I also got the wiring harness from the parts car. has anyone done this. can I just wire them to the turn signals or do I need to change out the wiring harness. I really don't want to use the wiring harness as it is brittle and don't want to create any problems. sorry for the long post.

Where did you find bullet style lightbulbs for $5 not to mention the new housing for $38? I checked and can't find them anywhere near that cheap.
