We are currently seeing the rise of fundamentalism in that religion. As with most religions they go through phases of fundamentalism and purging. Christianity has gone through similar phases as well resulting in the Inquisition and later a lot of persecuted Christian sects migrating to the Americas. We have our share of bizarre Christian sects but fortunately they never took off.

No. All the planet lives in the same timeline ( expect north corea ).
Persecutions, inquisitions, migrations were common all around the globe, the diffrence is that in our countries, we had archives, we have traces and evidences of the past. This is the same with slavery for exemple.
Islam had dark periods in the past too, and what happens ( the diffrence is that we lost evidences) now is not a " innocent " evolution or a scientific experiment that we all have to understand. they know what they are doing ( or not ).
you cannot tell that ISIS is equal to inquisition in the 16th century for example, time are diffrent. People cut hands ans stuff like that in europe too but in the middle ages : society was like that, this was the way of living. not now.

ISIS is engaged in a religious genocide. Times are not different. I'm sure you are aware of Hitler's and Stalin's genocides 70 years ago. Human nature has not evolved as quickly as our lethal technology. What do you think would happen if these shits got hold of a nuclear warhead. Google religious genocide and you will see it goes back to the beginning of recorded history. I've previously offered my opinion on what is the root cause of this situation. IMHO It is time to take the next step beyond that taken by Thomas Paine in the "Age of Reason".

The point is that it's all the same story and it is all very directly related to astronomy. All religions (including chrisrianity and islam) started as a way to tell the story of the stars & eventually became a way to control the people.

Most of the trouble is at night. "Like a deer in the headlights" saying. Eyesight doesn't adjust well or fast enough for the bright lights. Poachers use it to their advantage as well. Ron White said something around the lines that hunting deer is easy. Just slow the bullet down to 55 mph and put headlights on it.
