Being an active shooter when law enforcement arrives on the scene carries risk. If at the precise moment you have shot someone, albeit the bad guy, odds are you will be shot as the responding LEO could not possibly know otherwise. Best to not have a firearm in your hands at that point.

Thank you for pointing this out. If you plan to or do carry for protection pick up a copy of "In the Gravest Extreme" This is a MUST read if you do.

A very knowledgeable, ex cop shooting instructor once told me that a sign on the front door doesn't mean squat. The phrase he said to remember was "concealed".

If a merchant says "no guns" on his premises, the most he can do is ask you to leave. He cannot have you arrested, nor can he legally detain you. The best thing to do is just say "OK" and leave should the merchant find out you are carrying. Again, you are carrying "concealed" and that means they will never know.

There are places where it is against the law to carry... I know that PA won't let you carry in a casino for example, but hanging a sign out front doesn't make it so.

Hi Big_John,

Thanks for the comments. I completely agree regarding that if you are carrying concealed properly, no one should ever know you're carrying but a couple of cautions. First, In PA, if someone has a sign on the door and you bring a weapon in anyway, that is technically a misdemeanor trespass because it is viewed the same as if they told you to stay out and you entered anyway. The police can site you for this in PA. The legal term is Unlawful Trespass, different to Criminal Trespass but a crime all the same. Second, the attempt to restrict carry in a casino was struck down April 16, 2015 in PA.

PA is actually an open carry state meaning you don't have to have a permit to carry a firearm unless you carry it concealed. Concealed carry requires a permit. Some of the exceptions to this are State facilities, Federal facilities and schools (Fed Law), mental health facilities, child care facilities. In these areas you are not allowed to open or concealed carry. Class 1 cities of which Philadelphia is the only one currently, you are not allowed to open carry.

Every state is different. In PA you can open or concealed carry in a bar. In FL you can not. If a restaurant has a bar, you can carry in the restaurant but not in the bar area.

My point is, if you're going to carry, make sure what is legal in your state. It's you're responsibility. Another critical point is that every law is subject to interpretation first by the investigating officer and ultimately by the courts. As I've eluded to in other posts, carrying is not for everyone and you must be prepared both legally and emotionally for the ramifications of doing so.

This is only my opinion of course and I'm not trying to inflame an argument but I don't trust Trump as far as I can see him. He as been a stanch liberal democrat for a LONG time. He has donated a ton of money to Bill Clinton's campaign and to Hillery's first campaign. He has also donated a ton of money to the Clinton foundation. I wouldn't be surprised to find out that his entire campaign is a bet with his liberal media buddies to see if he can get the republican nomination then hand the Presidency to Clinton. Be careful what you wish for.

I agree, I think everyone's does. His apparently has made a rapid and extreme shift in the past 18 to 24 months. That's what I have a hard time believing.

Interesting... In NY, the signs mean nothing. No open carry except if you hunting or on your own property. There's some other exceptions too, but generally there's no open carry.

I let my PA non-resident permit lapse after they changed the rules and make you renew in person. I just couldn't get away during business hours. At the time, I could carry on my Utah or Florida permit. Now I see that has changed... I gotta make a trip.

I will agree with that ^^ This is pretty much a Civil Discussion. Anywhere else and it is just Down right Nasty.

Pretty tight knit bunch of C-Body enthusiasts here that have civil opinions about world affairs too....

I see a thread or two about current situations on almost all the sites I frequent. Seems its on everyones mind these days.

If all hell breaks loose.....this will be the quickest way to check on all FCBO'ers (if the web is still operational).
