Well, Critter's thread got me thinking that I should keep a record of the Monaco's progress as well.
I picked this car up on a whim in May of 2011 on the outskirts of Kelowna, BC. The price was right, and I couldn't turn it down.. Here's the car when I went to see it. She was running off a jerry can, since the tank was in the trunk. The guy I bought it from was going to keep it and drive it, but he decided that he had 2 B-bodies he needed parts for and get done. So he sold her for the cash to buy some stuff he needed. I hooked up the trailer and went for a 450 mile drive across the mountains to get her.

As bought

As you can see, she's a 1/2 tag car courtesy of Windsor

There are a few battle scars from what I assume were from a garage door opening

The bottom of the fenders, rockers, and quarters are solid

Looks interesting, what is your plan? That's got to be the shortest fender tag list I've ever seen. :)

You have some great cars. Nice solid Monaco. I see you have a thing for blue. :poke:

Peter, you now have one too many awesome cars. I'll be by to relieve you of this wretched excess.

I love it.

First things first, to get her on the road. Fuel tank was lined and a new sending unit installed, and got a set of tires to replace the 25 year old bias ply set that was on there. Of course that meant getting some thing wider than the stock 5 1/2 wheels on there. I found a set of 15x7 turbine wheels missing the cast turbines. They are exactly like the road wheels, but all painted - perfect for the wheel covers.

Next replace the tail light trim that was crumpled, remove the trailer hitch, and give a half-assed attempt at buffing the faded quarter.

I won't be doing too much. The roof is going to get repaired, a good polishing, a few maintenance items, and maybe new covers for the front seats

So she's in the garage for the winter to get that partial makeover, as cash, time and energy allow.

Vinyl has been peeled off, and the roof assessed.

Nice polish work your hired!

You do realize that I don't get paid minimum wage, right. I almost charge the same as your shop rate. Oh, plus enviro fees.

Ill pay you in road wheels should have enough of that currency....

What did they do to your gas tank? Did you have any repairs done? Are you happy with the way it turn out? What did that process cost?

Neat car, best of luck with it.

This was back in 2011, but they steamed the tank, and then put the liquid liner in it. There were no repairs done to the tank, and the cost then was $240.00. Dropped it off one day, and picked it up the next.
