I would say it started life as some kind of military tug and it would be a rough ride at highway speed.

Very possible....usually the Air Force guys had these and most of the time never did more than 30 MPH on runways. We still have a couple with 318's. And a few specialty tug's with slant 6's.

Actually, it DOES have its original configuration. This is an airport tug usedto tow baggage carts, APUs and aircraft. This had 6:15.1 gears originally, and a top end of about 40 mph. And they ride very rough.

$8K for that 2wd truck....the drive train is not worth that. If you could get it for about $4K, then use a gasser donor reg /club cab truck to build a nice one.
