Take a look at my November electric and gas bill. Actual usage totaled $144 for the month. Not too bad. However after delivery charges, fees etc. The total is $400.49 that's almost 3 times the consumption charge.

I have lived on my place for 25 years and never has it been anything like this. Same infrastructure, pipelines, power grid etc. has been in place all along. These bogus fees, not to mention the carbon taxes that our socialist gummint has imposed on us against the will of the people like we're gonna save the freaking planet. Worst part is we have to keep the heat and lights on or we'll freeze in the dark and there is only one competitor that is just as bad. I'm choked right now.

I know, Terry. I was bitching about my bill a couple of months ago when the actual consumption was about 10% of the total bill. The rest was fees and taxes, and a carbon levy. They don't want to call it a tax, but if it walks like a duck...

Al Gore and the Sierra Club think you need to pay even more to "save" the planet. Here in Oregon USA, all new homes will soon need to be fitted with Solar Panels because of the same idiotic logic, although I suspect that our "friends" at Solar World, a large panel manufacturer in Oregon probably greased enough palms at the legislature to get that provision passed. Solar World has been going broke for years and mandatory solar panel installation is probably their last best hope. Never mind that Coastal and Western Oregon are poorly suited for solar panels because of all the rainy, cloudy, foggy and overcast days. It is more important for all the Socialist Libtards to "feel good".

I have a friend who took a job here in MI at a "solar company". This was after some big solar company in AZ went belly up. Essentially 80 days of sun vs. 300+. Needless to say that job didn't last very long.

They went broke in AZ because the darn things stop working once the temp gets above about 95F. Do not fully understand the engineering principles involved, but it has something to do with the ion transfer system breaking down at higher temps.

I have a friend who loaded his roof with solar panels and put a charging station for his Tesla in the garage. The value proposition was to sell power back to the ultility company from the excess solar generation. Problem is they charge 7 cents per kwh to buy the power and they credit him 1.5 cents per kwh when he sells it back. He said it will never be paid back as long as he's alive and probably his grandkids either.

They offer a similar program here in Oregon. It world take about 60 years according to some estimates to ever recover the cost on solar panels that have a design life of 20 years. Does anyone see the math problem here?

I work for a utility company. All I can say is dammmmmmmmmnnnnnn.

That’s a lot of extra charges! Your electric transmission and distribution charges are incredible! Where’s you power come from? Hoover Dam? Yikes!

They are probably using all that extra money to install methane recovery systems on all the range cattle in Alberta.

I heard somewhere that burning a piece of wood is carbon neutral, it releases the same amount of carbon dioxide that it consumed in it's lifetime.

Here in town my gas bill is $130-$140/month and water/electricity is around $270 so $400 sounds about right i suppose

A tree absorbs CO2 and releases oxygen. The carbon is retained to form complex hydrocarbons, mostly cellulose, which when burned (oxidized) recreates CO2 and Water vapor. The process at that level is carbon neutral. The fly in the ointment might be how much other carbon the tree would have absorbed thru its root system that since it was in the soil would not have been likely to have been liberated by burning under other circumstances. My 2 cents worth.

The carbon tax isnt even the biggest item. Look at the "delivery charge" what did they do? Overnight express it to via fedex from china?

My parents own and live in a house in Europe, thats what they pay every 6month for their gas and electric. How is that so absurdly more expensive here?
