1965 pace car restoration

You are the first one I have ever seen make seat springs. Wow! I love this thread. FYI the tack is from a '65.

First time out in the sunlight with most of the interior in. Need to give it a clean.

Wow, amazing! And you did a lot of the work in the tent behind you? That's frickin' awesome, outstanding job!

Bit different from a couple of years ago. Sometimes I forget just how crap this thing was. New trunk mat arrived. Also have some new mirrors to fit this weekend

Bit more seat work this week. I had to replace the cool springs and rebuild the outer rim. Fortunately I picked up a decent coupe rear seat years ago which had similar springs. Also had another seat that yielded the rest. About 30 hours to get it sorted from start to finish. Still waiting on the speaker frame to return from the chrome platers this week. Needs a bit of time in the sun then I'll retweak anything that needs it.

not much this week. Slowly sorting the wiring and interior out. Bit of time sorting my sons ww2 jeep at present. Waiting on the last of the chrome work to arrive back from the platers tomorrow.

Fitted the mirrors today. Also made some new wire pieces for the seat adjusters. Adjusted and greased the seat tracks. Also fitted the rear speaker piece in the back seat. Need to source a new front and rear speaker yet. Also have finally completed the wiring.

What are you looking for in a front and rear speaker? Something specific, or something that fits in the openings and works well?
This is what I found to replace the front speaker to give me stereo and fit under the regular speaker grill. Rear are regular 6x9’s.

Wireless speakers would be handy. You just put them on the back seat and go on the streets.

Just something that fits and works well. My rear one is smaller around 5x7. Where did you find yours? I'm a bit limited here in Aus as to variety. I'd prob have to source from eBay.

With your metal working skill, you could easily alter the factory mounting plate for the rear speaker to accommodate a modern 6x9. What are you doing/have you done with the factory head unit? If you haven't already, I highly recommend you have it retrofitted with modern internals. There are several vendors that offer this service which was one of the best upgrades I made during the course of my restoration. Everything looks bone stock but it's a modern radio.
