Here's a GOOB dealer ad from January of 1970.

For VIN geeks like me, this stuff is a treasure.

This shows common sale prices and ranges for 1970 cars when new.
It would be amazing to time travel to see the inventory at this dealership.

Loaded C bodies- 6bbl GTXs and 'Cudas- T&C Wagons-/6 Valiants.

going out of business but still offering the highest trade in allowance

Sorry. Here's a closer shot so you can see the tremendous amount of VIN listings and prices.

Amazing number of 70 RR coupes on that lot all with 383's and half of them were built in LA.That would be an impressive sight to see.

A couple years ago I was looking into a FE5 70 RR coupe 383/4spd that was for sale in the SF bay area.I might still have pics of it on my old computer with the VIN.Would be pretty cool if it was one of those listed.

It would be a heck of a start on a year/plant data base. My year of interest is 69 but I save things like this “just in case”......

How come all of those Road Runners cost more than $2,400? Thought that was the going price in dealer ads ... couldn't give them away /s

Would have loved to pick out one of those T&C's !

IIRC,the original concept of the Road Runner was that it would run a sub 14 second quarter mile off the showroom floor for less than 3 grand.A 70 base model coupe with zero options would start at $2900 then add destination charges, dealer prep,CA emissions and go up from there with options. In 1970,the 3 speed manual was the base transmission and a 4 speed or torqueflight was a $200 option but probably 90% of them were built with those.
Just like today,I'd imagine trying to find a base model stripper on a dealer lot was just about impossible.

Would be interesting to see if any have survived and where they ended up

Of the C-bodies, the most likely to have survived should be convertibles. I don't see any in the original post, but maybe the text is too fuzzy? January of course, but Bay Area weather should still be compatible with ragtop sales.

Sorry my post was a little sarcasm. I've been into RRs since I was a kid in the early 80s. Interestingly I've only encountered 1 3 speed 70. I do know it was the standard trans starting in 70 though

I've seen about the same amount of 70 RR's with the three speed manual, one, and it sounds like we've been into Mopars about the same length of time. The one I saw was a blue post car and I last saw it about 30 years ago so who knows if it still even exists today.
I have a project 70 Dart 340 Swinger that originally came with the 3 speed manual (D13) but it was swapped to a 4 speed many years ago.

Ralph Williams? Odds are the business shut its doors.

Ralph had Chrysler and AMC dealerships across North America. In Canada he had the contract for the AMC dealerships in the largest cities. Those sites were owned by AMC Canada so when Ralph was eased out of the dealerships AMC Canada took charge.

He used to advertise used car specials with his right hand man (forget his name) and his dog. Also lots of corny humour. Ralph would have a special deal, say, on a slightly used one year old Maverick sedan. People would show up to see the car and it was nowhere to be seen. Turns out the commercials were shot in LA and used all across North America. When that news came out Ralph's business began to slide.

In Winnipeg, the dealership was called Ralph Williams Pan Am Motors. After Ralph left name was changed to AMCO Motors (Winnipeg).

Wonder how many of those cars were actually at Bayshore.

The one I saw was a sand pebble beige car. A real stripper. It had the basic interior (haven't seen hardly any of those either) and rubber floor mat if I recall but not positive on that. They guy that had it had a story that it was supposedly ordered by a guy that had a 833 4 speed and was going to swap it in so didn't option the higher cost trans and had thoughts on drag racing ... decided he didn't need the 4 speed in the quarter anyway and never swapped it ... that was the story anyway.

When I saw it was approx. 2001-3. The guy I was talking too had bought it from a long time or orig owner. It had sat in grass/yard/mud for a long time and the rear springs were coming through the trunk (which was toast) although I don't think it had that many miles on it. Other than the rust damage, the body work was pretty straight from 10 feet, non-bent up, unmolested shape, original paint but interior was rotten and of course it was rusty on the bottom.
