wheel studs fell out

ok...so the FSM shows several types of drums that could be on my car. How do i know what type i have? kelsey hayes, budd, motor wheel...and two different part numbered 2.75" drums...

If I remember correctly, both 2.75 drums use the same hub, check the part number for the hub, so I do not think that will be a problem. If the used hub still has a junk drum attached to it, it will still have the correct studs which can be used for comparison to get the new studs.

Ok....so before I go to the junk yard saturday

Which junk yard do you plan to go to? Also, don't forget that the Charlotte Auto Fair is going on this weekend if you need parts, or just don't have anything better to do.

I was going to go to the fair but money is tight and I need floorboards before I can install the frame so that will take priority over this....this can be swapped easily. In going to see if its just the wrong size studs since they made different diameters....if not then replace the hub. Whites Auto Salvage has the parts. Several 4drs and a couple 2drs.

 I had forgotten about that place. I've never done business with them. How are they?

They are reasonable in price and happy to help. Pull your own...or pay more for them to. I just go there...pull what I want and get a price. Always reasonably happy. I know they have other bodies but I'm not familiar with the fusies enough to know what I'm looking at. Im only referring to 67/68. They have tons of cars though. Pretty decent selection of mopar.

Matters not. Once its torqued correctly there isnt enough shear force to flex the wheel studs (lugs).
Yes mostly, but if the wheel does not register the taper of the lug nuts become the register. Thus the weight of the car leans on the studs if the friction is comprised at all like a very hard turn or sudden impact. You are correct, but it could be a issue on a non register wheel and needs to be considered.
He needs different studs those are not correct.

I managed to get a whole hub and drum from the junkyard...this one is swedged together, but I think its the same size. good drum and studs too. If new studs dont fix this then its getting swapped.

I swapped out the whole drum with the junkyard one....fit perfect...after loosening my brakes 5 turns....which tells me more meat on the new drum since my original slid off easy. Might go back for the other side. And yes I checked...same shoe size.

I'm surprised you didn't snag it to begin with just because it's parts!
I wasnt entirely sure it was correct when i grabbed it...forgot my tape measure when i went...now i know.....BUT...I also found a 73 newport with disc brakes there....might grab that stuff later too.

Go grab the 73 disc setup, if you don't use it you could always sell it. Get everything between the ball joints and the proportioning valve.

Moroso makes studs with large diameter knurling meant for diddled out hubs. I bought some and have excellent results with them. The very FIRST of many horrors to correct on Mathilda after I bought her, was how running super heavy, 20 " wire-spoked showroom rims had helped ruin the rear drums, rear end bearings, stud holes in the hubs and the studs themselves. I pressed in the Moroso studs 3 yrs ago, and have had naught but good from them.
