Hello, I'm new here and I just got my first C Body, a 1966 New Yorker. Loving it but needs some TLC to be the way I want it. I'm wondering what's the best shop manual to get? Preferably dead trees, not CD. And what's the best performance manual for 440s? I have previous Mopar experience but not C-bodies and only small blocks (LA, Poly, Magnum).

www.mymopar.com has the shop and parts manuals for free download. You will find these in the Tools/Reference section from their home page. www.manciniracing.com and www.440source.com have a variety of performance manuals. Depends on what you plan to do.

The best shop manual is the factory version. Nothing comes close. Find one on eBay. Expect to pay $40 - $100 for an original and probably $40 to $50 for a reproduction.

In addition to the Factory service manuals, many other 1966-specific Chrysler items are in the "Library" at www.hamtramck-historical.com .
The complete library of Chrysler MasterTech training "films" are at the OnlineImperialClub website. How to work on various areas of the car and such. In some cases, 1966-specific, in other cases one year earlier or one or two years later will work just fine. Maybe not a whole lot of "hard data", but a good bit of information. Seems like some of the MasterTech "films" are also at www.MyMopar.com, too?

Having the paper versions is neat, but after getting the downloaded files, I haven't consulted the paper books in quite a while. AND, the "price is right".

You can get reproduced paper copies and CD's of factory FSM's and parts catalogs for a reasonable price from these guys.

Sorry I bought another hard copy. I had been looking occasionally and they always seemed $60-100.
I always hated it when I wanted to look at it was at my shop, or I would bring it home and forget it at home.
I have the downloaded copies, but still prefer the hard copy.

Thanks so much for all the responses! Very helpful suggestions! Going with paper factory shop manual, and downloading the parts manual for now. (Have to preserve some funds for buying the parts! 
Regarding the future, my plan is to first get it the beast safe and reliable (brakes, fluids, spark etc.) so that it runs/drives/stops. Then drive it for a while and see what else the car says it wants. Maybe buff out the original paint to make it a bit more purdy.
Then finally address the things I, the human, think I might need such as handling and a bit more oomph. But we all know how that part goes: Before it's all said and done probably a full rebuild, cam, heads, intake, carb(s?), headers, shocks, bushings, sway bars and so on... Maybe even discs and EFI if I feel really brave. So in other words please be prepared for a bunch of newbie C-body questions down the road!
And in my wildest dreams I want it to be a cool cruiser that won't embarrass me (or especially my long suffering wife). If at all feasible maybe some really laid back local auto crossing and 1/8 just to see the puzzled faces on the other guys! This stuff is supposed to be fun, right?
