the rear bolt on the driver side hinge from the hinge to the hood was broken for a while, and I've been pushing the hood down on the back to close the hood planning to fix it later

all of a sudden, the driver side rear edge of the hood kind of popped out of the cowl, and a torsion spring popped out of its holder

I fix the broken Hood bolt thinking everything a lineup, but I've been messing around for an hour and cannot get this Hood to spy back under the cowling and its holder. I've been very careful, and I don't think anything is bent what's the trick to getting this hard back under the called hooked up to the torsion spring?

first picture is the driver side that is not under the cowl anymore, second picture is the passenger side which is still correct

I found a thread on it, looks like there is a pivot pins under there

I'm now on it, but I'm not sure if I just "crank back) on this spring with a rachet strap, seems like it wouldn't move easy

Well, used rachet strap method, dangerous, but worked.

Went to open and close my hood, first time good, second time, corner blew up and destroyed the cowl

No idea why

Lucky for you I still have the drivers fender off of my 1966 300. You will have to remove the cowl panel for access, but it looks like their should be some kind of retainer to hold the hinge on the pivot pin. I have attached pictures from my car, but it was in a frontal wreck, and I don't now if the welding was factory or, great bodywork. Hope the pictures help.

Thanks for the pic. I have no retainers of any kind. I drilled a hole, and installed a cotterpin till I find the right way. Yours seems welded?

Also if you attempt the ratchet strap method, be careful and use a 1000lb strap or bigger
