19th annual New Orleans show. The optional "new Orleans experience" on Friday is worth the trip.
The show needs a better turnout of C bodys.

I registered the Polara today, also signed up for the optional Friday New Orleans experience and party. It would be great to see some folks from FCBO there. the show is usually light on C bodys. A good opportunity to rub elbows with guys like Herb McCandless, Tim Welborn, Ted Stephens and Rob Wolf.
The host hotels are a little pricey but I found one close by at a decent rate.
I'm looking forward to the Polara's first road trip.

Have a safe trip Will, as you know take plenty of pictures to share. I can’t wait to sit in the Polara in July. :steering:

Well..... The New Orleans trip/show is in the history book. One qlitch starting out, In favor of avoiding the Interstate I decided to drive out to the end of Ft Morgan and catch the ferry across Mobile Bay. The crossing was socked in with fog and the ferry was not running. I had to back track 32 miles and then drive around the top of Mobile Bay and through Mobile, (on I-10). Turned a 180 mile trip into 250 miles.
The day was picture perfect and the Polara ran great. No issues at all with the car the entire trip. But I now have a little stumble at idle, kinda like a plug wire is off, I haven't checked it out yet.

I parked out front of the Holiday Inn express, host hotel, and the polara was well received and was the subject of much conversation. Herb McCandless made it a point to find out who's car it was and proceeded to give me all kinds of pointers, advice and opinions off what HE would do if it were his car. He had his 61 K there and it's loaded with gadgets.

Friday was tour day. Loaded three tour busses and set out for a day of adventure. We visited several historical sites in the Bernard Parrish, (That's a county anywhere else), Everywhere we traveled that day was under water 15 years ago during Katrina. We went to the site of the Battle of New Orleans, visited a plantation and toured a museum complex.
Next stop was to the largest oyster company in that area where a 4th generation oyster farmer greeted us with oysters fresh off the boat and grilled, his own recipe, right on the dock. I eat 8 of them, best I ever had.

Back onto the busses and to the French Quarter section of New Orleans, always one of my favorite places. I headed straight to the balcony of the French market café' where I promply ordered a very tasty boat drink and a lb of crayfish. A great place to watch the goings on in the streets and have a view of the Mississippi river and the paddle wheel river boat moving up and down the river. Look close to the pic I took from the balcony and you will see a stern wheel river boat passing by. Next stop a piano bar on Bourbon street for a beer and some live Dixieland music.
Busses left at 5:15. I found three beignet's for $3.00 and a coffee and made it to the bus at 5:05.

I slap got distracted and failed to take more pictures in the quarter. Those boat drinks will get ya.

Next ....... To dinner and the party. The Big Easy club members are very talented in food preparation and prepares and serves more local cajin style dishes then one can eat. I tried though. A live band covering some great tunes. I danced more then I had since 1978 and partook of the unlimited hurricane shots and some stuff I don't what it was.... sweet, and went down well. This went on well into the night and the busses took us back to the hotel.

Saturday..... show day. The Polara started the day much better than I did. A shower, lots of coffee and a Waffle House saved me and I was able to drift into the day. Another beautiful day. About 140 cars. Some VERY nice ones. Only two C body's, My Polara and a heavily modified, pro street 68 Newport. It was nice and was awarded best C body. Everyone loves a survivor car but they don't hold up well in competition against a restored car. I did get a "glad you could make it" beer glass award so we got something first time out.

All right.... enough of the BS.... Here are some car pictures.

The show was almost a "NO GO". Friday, during the tour day someone got a phone call saying that the state of Louisiana had held a emergency meeting and canceled all gatherings in the state due to the coronavirus situation. They had pulled the permit for our show. Well..... some one knew some one and a couple of last minute phone calls to the right person in the Parish and we were told to go ahead, have the show, but call it a picnic if questioned. We were still restricted in as much as there could not be any PA system, music or vendors.
Nobody challenged and all came off pretty well.

She’s showing amazingly. Gotta say, never been much of a convertible guy but damned if I can argue with that car. That is one hot ride.

I hope your travels were great and memorable.
