This is not my car. I saw it on Facebook Marketplace. I figured it was a pretty rare car, so it might be of interest to someone here.

RARE 1959 Imperial Crown 2-D Convertible Low mileage! Under 128k. Only 555 of these were ever produced in ’59. Great project or parts car— hard to let it go. 413 wedge-head V-8 engine

These are a highly desirable collector car. This one however is very rough and will need pretty much everything. Looks to have some lower body rust with bondo on lower part of front fender and rear quarter, front bumper, grill and some trim is missing, all difficult and expensive items to find. On the plus side, the rear chrome, bumper and toilet seat are pretty much intact. Rear window of convertible top is missing and the car shows signs of extensive outside storage. Floors are likely suspect as a result. Missing wheel covers, another hard to find item. Interior is badly weathered. Glove box is not on dash, if missing that cover is another difficult to locate item. Restored, this is a valuable car, but I suspect that restoration costs will likely exceed any realistic sale price, so this car will be a labor of love for someone with deep pockets.

Considering that Old car price guide has a Number 1 car at 190000, this price doesn't seem too bad. The condition is rough, but a Number 5 is 27000. A hardtop could be cannibalized for parts and options, so I would think for someone with deep pockets it isn't out of the question. I guess I should have thought differently about deep pockets on this forum?

The glove box appears to be on the passenger seat. Perhaps he has most if not all of the parts. Note the rear top window is a wrap around unit. When I had my '59 Imp convert I ended up with a spare rear window. Mine was a dark gun metal color with red leather interior. My ex got it and I'm unsure where it went in 1992 era.

Like all forums, some can give a car to a restorer and pay the bill and others can't, too each their own. I imagine any car can be restored for between 50.000 and 200.000 dollars, this is nice but probably $$$$ to bring back. But hood luck to whoever wants to try.

Yes, and I hate frikking Ramen. Point I was trying to make is the forward look verts are notoriously expensive to restore. There really are very few parts cars to try a salvage parts from. Jay Leno or someone like him can spend $120k or more to bring this car back to showroom condition. I will pick a more viable project. But this is one of those areas where one should do what works for them. Sometimes paying more for a car to start with that is not so far gone saves money in the ling run. But each to their own.
