Hey y'all, I bought this car about five years ago and I just keep putting miles on it. It's really stolen my heart. After doing a front end rebuild, Scarebird disc brake conversion, and some other regular maintenance I figured it was finally time to show the powertrain the love and rebuild the 361ci B block for another summer of near daily driver status and a few awesome roadtrips.

I'll do some other videos on other aspects of the car but right now the focus is on a budget big block rebuild and a few other upgrades. I just love driving the car too much to take it off the road for a big cosmetic restoration!

And here's removing the engine, next few videos to come out are on engine disassembly and measuring.

Xander,

That rocks man, I am glad you are doing this. Between your videos and Angus/Stumpy's on Youtube in regards to his 64 New Yorker rebuild, our 64's are finally getting some love! I am currently in the midst of a 505 stroker rebuild, of which I will post pictures, but I don't have the balls to do a video series. If for no other reason than it takes me a really long time to do things.

I feel like there is a special niche of full size, pre-65 C body owners who know a different kind of pain/pleasure. Imperial owners definitely feel it too. Really glad to see this though bro.

Haha I had no idea what I was in for either. The car was a bit of an impulse buy and then I started working on it and realized what a weird car they are. Ball and trunnion rebuilds, taper axle rear ends, NO ONE has body parts for them, the list goes on. Thanks for the support!

Nice you are keeping the 361. I have a 361 that I have plans for in the future.

Obviously there's no replacement for displacement but the 361 has a lot of potential! Lots of common parts with the larger Bs so I don't think it'll be hurting for airflow. For a cruiser/roadtrip engine I think it's gonna be awesome.

New video up today!

Right there with ya. The tapered axles were definitely fun to deal with. I ended up repacking the bearings, redoing the drum brakes and the smartest decision of all, getting rid of the pressed-on hub to drum setup. Makes it a hell of a lot easier to work on. Me thinks you're going to enjoy that 361 on a freeway cruise real soon. Keep the videos coming.
