NOT MINE!!!... Interesting story about this engine from a 1969 Sport Fury although a bit pricey and the "Police Interceptor" is umm.... clueless? Remember original transmission is included and it has the rare driver side C-Body only HiPo exhaust manifold, who knows maybe the engine stand is included too! But "Posted about a month ago" makes me think it will be around CL for awhile.

This engine came from my 1969 Plymouth Sport Fury which had 82K original miles. The original owner ordered the Sport Fury with the "Police Interceptor" package, one of the benefits of being a police officer in a small Indiana town. I was the cars third owner and drove it for a few years in college. I bought the car around 1984 and pulled the engine and transmission around 1989. It was a very strong runner. The engine and transmission have never been modified or taken apart. It is still the way it was the day I pulled it back in 1989. Stock intake and exhaust manifolds never off the engine. Turns over with little effort. The engines original 727 is included with the 440.

The block has the following markings:
- Casting Date: "E440 7 30 HP"
- Driver side casting number: 25364307
- Passenger side just above the casting number is the date code: "5 68"
- Intake has a tag with the date "7.26.68"

I would wonder why the oil pump is loose and the pan appears to have been pulled as well. For an 82k C-Body engine, the price is way out of line.

Dave

"numbers+ on engine seem proper if that matters to someone (it does to me).

price? its just an asking price to start a discussion but feels a little tall for 31-35 years of sitting. Aint dissin' seller -- just observing the obvious from the ad.

i'd buy it for the dating, but i would assume a rebuild in my offer. I have a couple 69 300 verts that could use it.

I am not a buyer though. Hope it finds its way back into a C.

Maybe fully dressed. B body guys may get picky that it's a c body vin.

I couldn't even read the block VIN, seems that the most important pictures for the sale are the poorest. And even the intake pad numbers when enlarged I see a double stamped 4, a what looks like a upside down B under second 4. I see no 7 and what would be the meaning of that and or the 30 that I can see. The pad numbers are not the "Casting Date:"

Some guys think 'never been apart' means the pistons have never been out.
Agreed with Furious70, maybe $3000 if it was 100% complete.

Guys wanting an authentic engine will want it with the HTF carb, aircleaner and dizzy.
Missing PS pump and brackets, and all the KD linkage stuff is gone (and that's a PITA to piece together unless you buy a reproduction kit).
I see no sparkplug wire holders near the front of the engine.
All of these things can be bought new, of course, but at $3000 you've essentially already been charged for them.

And wouldn't a 69 C-body 440hp be turquoise?

Keyword: Interceptor :poke::poke:
Are you saying that a 69 civvy C-body would be turq, but a copcar version of the same car would would be orange?
I don't know teh colors all that well. My brain is also telling me that pictures I've seen the C-body Dodge 440hp would be orange, while Fury/Chrysler would be turquoise?

I can only go with from what I remember, my 2nd pretty much all original 1968 PK21 Fury I Super Commando 440 was Turquoise. I really don't know much more other than what I've gathered here. I don't even recall seeing many 1969, 70, & 71's Furys in the bone yards back in the 1970's up early 80's whether cop or civi.

Remember the story on this car is that it was ordered this way by a cop with this engine in it.

1969 Pursuit Super Commando 440/375 HP are MoPar Orange/Red.

1969 Pursuit Commando 440/360 HP are MoPar Turquoise.

No c body expert but for what it's worth ...

68 b body B/RB HP engines were Turq, 69-71 orange, 72 and later blue.

If A/C car the at least 69 383 was Turq and some say that wasn't the same engine as a road runner or superbee exactly hence diff color. I think they were 330 HP instead of the 335 HP non A/C motor.

The C-bodies never got hte 335hp engine that was in the B-bodies. 330hp only, and I believe it did not get the 'Magnum/Super Commando' cam.
I believe the B-bodies with AC then got teh equivalent of the C-body engine with the tamer cam.
But from what I've read over the years that's a whole different/complicated topic.

So you changed your mind to what, please: IS a police-spec-engine or NOT?

Anyway, price is wohhhhh

Thanks

I don't know what your getting at, I known I've seen that type of bracket for the kickdown rod, can't remember exactly when but most likely in the late 70's to late 80's. I'm thinking maybe truck or motorhome application. I've searched the car service manuals for 1968 to 1974 and see nothing like it, search of the net turned up a similar bracket with a supposed part number on eBay but no reference in the listing too application nor part number found.
Only clue that I got is that it's a "Stabilizer" and could it be some kind of service add-on part?
Stump the Mopar experts item I think.

Sorry if I might have misunderstood you, @68PK21 440.6bbl , but to me it sounded as if you changed your mind from initially „yes, this is a police-spec-engine“ to finally „no, this ain‘t a p-s-engine“.

So in your opinion: is it or is it not police-spec?

I made no reference to it as being police spec only that the ad listed it as a "story" via a 3rd hand owner that I commented was clueless with the "Interceptor" description.
