I can honestly say I was just considering the purchase of that Newport. But when I got to the point where they put the 302 in the car, and not a chrysler motor, I'm out.
I actually like the 4x4 conversions. If it's already done, why not rock it?

I'm guessing the '68 bronco was really a '78.

The Ford 302 is a good engine :poke:

I like it a lot better than the "shorty" I posted awhile back, but I agree, why put a 302 in it?
Years ago a local guy had a 4WD Pinto, he used to plow snow with it, it was pretty cool

I just recently sold the only ford product in my vehicle line up. The 64 lincoln. Can't see buying another ford product.
Even if I have a few ford friends with lots of info, it would be a pain, in my opinion, to have ford stuff around.

Irony is: cobble together a ‘68 Bronco body on that beafy frame and it’s a $40K rig here in old car inflation California!!!
In other words: despite our MOPAR love many many car freaks PAY a lot for the BLUE OVAL!

So unless it has 5.13 gears to match with those 35” tall tires it’s a giant turd with zero power.

You can go 4 wheelin' with your buddies in Chrysler comfort.:steering:

So do you think they spliced steel into the frame to stretch it or just cut it in half and half assed it to the unibody of the Newport.

Excellent analysis Shooter! no way an early Bronco has a 124” Chrysler Newport wheelbase . . .

You don't have to go that low. :poke: Although it wouldn't hurt. I've got 4.10s and 35s on my 4.0 Jeep. You just won't be doing any burnouts anytime soon.

Was just thinking of how heavy that craft must be. And a 302 is whimpy, gots not torque.

if you want to know about the frame then message they guy and get the whole story.
