    Timing Marks?

The snout on my son's 318 cracked and the balancer rotated about 15 degrees. I replaced it with a new one. That is the only Mopar one I have ever seen in sixty plus years of working on them. His balancer had 140,000 miles on it. The rubber was still good.

    Would you?

With a good running 440, there will be a big difference in performance. That being said, what are you going to do with this car? If it was mine and like you said has a good running 383, I would leave it that way. Is the 440-crank drilled out for a 4 speed? If not, that could be a problem. Drive...

    400 with a 440 transmission mix-n-match issue?

I would look at the driveshaft too. You said you never used this one, so it is possible that it is bent.

Did I make a mistake painting over where my exhaust manifold & valve covers bolt up?

Yes, like said above, remove I would remove it. I would use some lacquer thinner, also like recommended above.

To shroud or not to shroud

Why are you trying to fix a problem you do not have. Quite a few cars in the sixties and seventies came without shrouds because they were not needed. There is a big difference in running a little hotter in severe weather than overheating. If you are worried about the temperature, install a good...

Repetitive Fuel Leak 69 Chrysler 300

Like I said earlier, check the sizes of the hoses. They should be snug without any clamps on them. Someone may have put 3/8" hoses where 5/16" hoses go.

Repetitive Fuel Leak 69 Chrysler 300

Try using the better clamps that are used for fuel injection lines. Are the hoses the right size? Do they fit nice and snug when you push them on?

1970 Plymouth Sport Fury V10 Swap Build Thread

It has the S23 package. I don't think I have ever seen anyone put a V10 in a C body. Today you see a lot of the newer Hemis being swapped. This will be unique.

    Oil level curiosities

Do what Big_John said. Put the correct amount of oil in the motor, including the filter. Run it so it circulates, then shut it off and let it settle. Check the dipstick and score a line in it to show the correct fill level. You do not have to change anything.

    Oil level curiosities

The earlier pans are made to fit the earlier chassis. The sump is in a different location on the pan.

    Oil level curiosities

I have an oil pan and pickup from a 1959 Chrysler on the 440 in my '57 Plymouth. It is different than the newer pans and it holds 5 quarts plus the filter. I don't know about the part numbers, but they are definitely different pans. You can see that the earlier pans are a larger capacity.

    Transmission linkage

Does the piece on the transmission have a rubber grommet in it?

    axle stuck

I had that happen on an 8 & 3/4 rear in an E body. It turned out that the axel was bent. We ended up replacing it and all the bearings.

    Aftermarket gauge

I have Stewart Warner and Dixco gauges from the sixties. They still work fine. The oil pressure gauge is mechanical.
