Yes there is a heater control valve on the fire wall cable operated. Check there. I replaced mine with a nice brass 12 Volt electric unit. 3/4 NPT FEMALE THREAD. use 3/4 male hose nipples. Wire to 12 Volt toggle switch ignition hot. run with relay and fuse. You didn't mention if you inspected...
