My 1975 Dodge Monaco needs front floor pans- can anyone offer a source for patch panels or panels from other cars that are fabricated and work? OR do I need to get it done myself with flat sheet metal? Tried to source some online but no luck.
Thanks.,
James
Holy smokes, the starter cranks in neutral! Sooo, sounds like my neutral safety switch went bad, right? The darn thing will not start in park but will in neutral. I'll replace that plug then....quick question: if I start the car in neutral can I then shift into "park" or will it kill the motor?
Actually no, have not messed with anything. I am just troubleshooting the existing condition since I bought it. I have a relay coming today, so I'll try that.
My '75 Monaco won't crank on the key. Here's the riddle:
1. new battery & solenoid
2. when key is turned to start, solenoid clicks
3. I jumped the old solenoid and jumped the starter relay and the started does crank
4. no new wiring or changes to the car have been made.
Any ideas? Could this...
I think this is the troubleshooting method from the manual:
GEARSHIFT LINKAGE ADJUSTMENT (Column Shift) (Figs. 3 or 4)
(1) Assemble all linkage parts leaving adjustable rod swivel lock bolt loose. (2) Place gearshift selector lever in PARK position and lock steering column with ignition key. (3)...
Update, I changed out the Neutral Safety Switch and the problem was not that. So here are the issues:
a. won't start in park, only neutral
b. when car is in Park, the brakes are not applied- it rolls.
Does that signal something else or confirm someone's suspicion?
My 74 Dodge does nothing when I hit the key in park, but if I shift to neutral it starts right up.
Sound like a neutral safety switch? If so, how hard are they to change out?
Thanks,
Jim
Thanks for the identification! So, based on that- I'll try and adjust the two mixture screws to lean it out a bit. Are these good/reliable carbs? Never had one before.
