If they're road worthy I'll save them... but if not, then why not have some fun with it before hitting the scrap yard? I always sell my parts that I strip out too.
In theory, I'm getting rid of the junk ones, (making the good ones more rare, thus increasing value) and selling you all parts...
Well my find of the day ended up not being much of one at all. The rockers were immaculate in this car, which led me to believe that there would be less rust rather than more rust.... Boy was I wrong. The windows must have leaked from day 1, so while the trunk 1/4's were better than most, and...
Ya, had to change 2 tires and jack it up, undo pitman arm from linkage. Kick tires straight. (They were locked all the way to the right when parked ) then undo the shifter linkage to get out of park.
Then use a manual cone along to drag it up on the trailer. All while having a fever and...
Well it's original plan was to be put on the road or restored and sold. But there are 3 problems before I start...
1) no keys. ( I'll have some made)
2) no title. (Title replacement Ranges anywhere from 95-500 here in Illinois)
3) slight frame damage in front of a arms on both sides. Looks...
I understand some of your guys' frustration of the derby world. Setting the neighborhood cat on fire... Maybe a BIT of a stretch? Please don't forget I and a fellow derbier have restored and sold (for next to nothing) a couple 74-78s to be driven on the highway. Let us all face it: 74-78...
Believe it or not, as long as the rockers under the doors and the front subframe are still intact you can derby these with good results. You can see where I tied the sub to the rockers. That keeps it from falling out.
Good news for your collectors though, more and more people are passing on...
I agree. I had 1 that ended up on the track that probably wasn't ready. Also had 1 that I helped save and keep on the road, another that we found on the way to the shredder (black 74 2 door) that we saved.
The actual problem in my opinion, is that everyone on here believes these 74-78's are...
We always try to part out any usable parts for survivors (I even had a nice 78 NYB that is still on the road),
and how many of you guys would actually try to save this car? The infamous, "floorboard delete" option. Back half of the subframe was gone also.
