65 New Yorker, first project car

We'd love to see some photos of the car. 2-door? 4-door? Town Sedan? Color?

Agree with CBODY67, dual-pot master cylinder. INLINE TUBE sells a distribution block (brass) to do the conversion, it's about $50 if I recall. I have done this re-plumbing on my '65 NYer and my '63 Riviera. I always replace the brake lines and soft hoses as well as the wheel cylinders, brake...

drtrubs......I would not spend the money on the disc brake conversion. The big drums and shoes on the '65 NYer are MORE than adequate to stop the car. I have drums on my '63 Riviera, '67 Newport, and '65 NYer, and they work perfectly fine.

Yes, welcome fellow Ohioan! I'd be curious as to the condition and history of the gift car before you got it. I had a nice afternoon motoring around my '65 6-window Town Sedan, a pleasure as always. With my '65, I went through just about everything...brake lines, hoses, cylinders; pumps...

    vapor lock

I think if the fuel pump push rod is significantly worn, you would hear a knocking sound, as I did with my '65 NYer. I could hear the knocking from 30 feet away, I thought it was a rod knock. So, I located an electronic pump under the passenger floor, where the steel line connects to...

Check ETSY first for fabric and vinyl!!

The 67 fabric isn't stamped, the 65 vinyl is.

Check ETSY first for fabric and vinyl!!

The vinyl is stamped 8/64 on the back. Obviously the fabric will not be correct for the 65 Nyer, but it is really close and is going to look great. I can't imagine even a die-hard Chrysler guy would know it's for a 67.

Check ETSY first for fabric and vinyl!!

Howdy fellas (and fell-ettes), it's Rich here in Tampa with a great tip. In my quest to find vinyl and fabric for my '65 New Yorker (and my quest to avoid buying from SMS), I searched the interwebs and was directed to the ETSY website, where I discovered a seller there that has a lot of NOS...

Extra set of eyes needed (online) for purchase 1959 Imperial Crown

Ditto that re: brake conversion. Unless you're hot-rodding the car or driving it in the mountains a lot, the drums work just fine.

Extra set of eyes needed (online) for purchase 1959 Imperial Crown

The spot you outlined does not appear to be at the frame, but of course photos can be difficult to interpret. Otherwise the car looks nice. As the other guys have pointed out, the car is 65 years old, so there will be issues and sorting. I would absolutely advise that you inspect the underside...
