The buyer of the car will be signing up here soon. Cool kid excited to build his first classic. He reads this thread, and will likely start a new one here for this car.
My father in law gave me first shot at his 20 year restoration with an offer I couldn't turn down, can't keep both- so sold...
Brakes work perfect, then after things get hot, dont...pedals not hard. New shoes- drums weren't glazed. New self adjusters. The only thing not replaced was the booster.
Everything after the booster is brand new- master cylinder, lines, all hardware, shoes. Drums were good, so didn't replace...
Still having issues with the brakes though...
Would the lines, too close to the exhaust manifold, getting hot- cause an issue? They work great for a while...then you gotta use both feet to stop...
The bottom butterfly rod is leaking vaccuum on both sides. I'm moving in a couple weeks, so have to drive it to its new home, so can't do anything too crazy or expensive anytime soon.
Contemplated that route several times...but have a feeling, ultimately, ill end up going 4 barrel.
Hate to spend all that money and time, just to switch in a year or so. Kinda want to drive around some this summer.
Sprayed carb cleaner everywhere. The motor only raced at the carb, both sides of the lower butterfly shaft. Changed the gasket, just in case.
Hoses and fittings insected good.
Had to keep the trip short, have to stand on the pedal to get the car to stop...thinking they were incorrectly bled...
Also learned my carb is shot...at the bottom, where the butterfly swivels, is very loose- really bad vaccuum leak...
