    WANTED Imperial Door Latch

Hi everyone. I'm looking for a left front door latch for a 56 Imperial. This is the part attached to the door with the star wheel. The car is a 4 door so I'm guessing all four are different. Mine has started the dreaded only latching at the first detent. Thanks everyone.

    Imperial model name

Thanks for that link. Quite a lot of information I'm sure I'll be referring to again. According to what I read, I have a C73 Custom Imperial with a 133" wheelbase. So what I think I'll do, is ask them to leave the model name blank. If they won't, I'll say it's a C73. The word "Chrysler"...

    Imperial model name

I knew the Crown Imperial was a limo in the 60s but didn't know if that went back to the 50s. I for sure don't have a limo. My car is a post model so it isn't a Newport or a Southampton. So far I haven't found an actual name for it. The tag office ought to love that.

    Imperial model name

Good morning everyone. I just bought a 1956 Imperial. Not sure it's actually a C Body but maybe someone will know. I know starting in 55 the Imperial was its own make. My car has the familiar crowns on it but nowhere does it have a model name. My punchcard only says Series C70. The front...

Moving an Imperial on a Uhaul trailer

I agree. Normally I would have told him to pound sand. But I was working from a position of extreme weakness. I was pressed for time, the seller was pressed to get the car out of his garage, and I was worried that the scam was that if I accepted his bid then told him to get lost, he'd create...

Moving an Imperial on a Uhaul trailer

It was in Connecticut. I really didn't want to use Uship because all I've ever seen from them was Billy Bob with his F150 and tow dolly. When I signed up I immediately got several quotes from trucking companies that were around 1300-1400. And then add-on Uship fees and the insurance which...

Moving an Imperial on a Uhaul trailer

Guess what everyone. The Imperial is at my place now, hauled down by a guy I found on Uship. He had a Ford F250(F350?) and a rather heavy duty 22' trailer. Cost me 1000 bucks, I didn't have to do any of the driving, and everything went well. So thanks everyone for chiming in. I never...

Moving an Imperial on a Uhaul trailer

Nope. Not jerking anyone around. The purpose of this exercise was to cut out 15 hours of driving. I do indeed have a 2500 truck and a tilt trailer, and I do not want to tow it empty 15 hours only to turn right around and tow the car back another 15 hours. That trip sucks on a good day. By...

Moving an Imperial on a Uhaul trailer

There's nothing I'd like more than to pay someone to move this car for me. I haven't hired a transport company in eons, and I have a couple reservations. First off the car doesn't run. I have never, ever heard anyone say oh that's not a problem. Second the guy who has the car now has tried...

Moving an Imperial on a Uhaul trailer

Thanks guys for weighing in here. It really helped. The mental part is, Xenon, that I couldn't sleep and would be a bundle of nerves while the car was in transit. Too many horror stories. It would be better for me to go get it, that way I know what's happening every step of the way.

Moving an Imperial on a Uhaul trailer

And there we have it. Cuda Hunter you got me to thinking. That Dodge B van I hauled had a 127 inch wheelbase, with almost zero front overhang, and the rear wheel was right at the edge of the deck. This Imperial is 129 inch wheelbase, and the front end has more of an overhang which possibly...

Moving an Imperial on a Uhaul trailer

Rental of a 15' truck and auto transport for 1000 miles is right around 2k. It would be an enormous help to fly one way and only have to drive one way. Oh did I mention the car doesn't run? That's always fun explaining to the shipping company. I'll probably end up driving both ways. I have...

Moving an Imperial on a Uhaul trailer

Not long ago I was looking for a 75-76 Eldorado. Put all the info into their homepage and it comes back good to go. Went to pick up the trailer and the guy at the counter says it won't work. I said the website says it's okay what's the discrepancy? He couldn't tell me. Another time I...

Moving an Imperial on a Uhaul trailer

Hi everyone. Has anyone ever used a Uhaul auto transporter to tow an Imperial, and would you do it again? I'm going to have to have a 62 moved about a thousand miles and I'd be willing to fly out and rent a Uhaul truck and trailer. Uhaul's website says I shouldn't put an Imperial on a...
