    Automotive Sheet Metal Thickness?

Like the title says - what's the maximum metal thickness I'd encounter working on a 60's Chrysler? 1/4"? 3/8"? More? I'm just learning to weld, and looking to buy a simple welder. This is a hobby, and I probably won't use it often. I don't ever plan to make a living from this skill, and I'm not...

62 Imperial Radiator Same As Chrysler?

It's always cool (no pun intended) when you can keep the original, if they do a good job. Best of luck!

62 Imperial Radiator Same As Chrysler?

Here are a few things I learned after researching my cooling system this summer: 1. As @69CoronetRT shows in the picture above, there are two slightly different radiators for a 1962 413. One is "standard", and the upper hose connection is slightly off center, toward the passenger side. The...

Steering Gear Tube Insulator - Where does it go???

Thanks so much! Even though it looks like the 1963 parts manual still ignores this part, the exploded diagrams are even better in some cases than the service manual. I'm so glad for the resource.

Steering Gear Tube Insulator - Where does it go???

Oooh. I'll have to find one of those!

Steering Gear Tube Insulator - Where does it go???

Thanks! My 1963 manual doesn't have a diagram like that.

Steering Gear Tube Insulator - Where does it go???

While looking for various replacement rubber parts for my '63, I came across this: Steering Gear Tube Insulator | 1958-1964 Mopar Cars | Andy Bernbaum Auto Parts My car came from the Southwest, and a lot of my rubber bits aren't great as a result. I probably should replace this, and it's not...

    1963 Imperial Dual Exhaust Companies

The frame rails on these cars never fail to astonish me. That's the engineering that got them banned from demolition derbies! I like the exhaust, too. My only change would be to tuck the tailpipes up behind the bumper a little so they won't scrape on an inclined driveway. You may not have that...

DIY: Rewiring the cigar lighter to only run in accessory mode

This is a nice setup! I also try to design all my changes so that they can be easily returned to stock; it's more complicated this way, but it's also a fun challenge. I did something similar when I added a few gauges. I wanted the gauges to illuminate at the same time as the stock instruments...

Interesting Junkyards Near The Grand Canyon?

Like the title says. Last spring I was in Tucson, AZ, for vacation. I took a day trip to wander around Desert Valley Auto Parts in Casa Grande and had a wonderful experience. Next year I'm visiting the Grand Canyon and I'd like to do something like that again. We just don't have places like that...

    Cool "Car Art" Illustrations

This is always one of my favorites, from the 1963 owner's manual: every time I look at that '63 ripping through the desert under "severe conditions," I want it as a tattoo

Picked Up Lot's Of 62 Imperial Parts

Me too. I wish I could even find a decent picture of one.

    Upgrading 1964 Imperial wiper blades

Late to this thread, but I was able to find refills for mine on Classic Industries. I just measured what I had and bought matching refills. So far they work great.

    1962 Imp front end rebuild

For some of the parts, I've gotten new, USA-made parts from trusted brands (Moog, Timken) from RockAuto, but do your research. I've also gotten some parts (pitman arm, idler) that were definitely wrong even though Rock insisted they were correct. You can still return when that happens, but they...

    Imperial Fuel Tank Grommet

Are you sure it's not already inside that rim of the tank? That's where it usually sits. If you can't find one, try Van's Auto. I bought a whole new tank from them, which came with the o-ring.
