My '63 Imperial came with a single exhaust that looks to have seen multiple repairs over the years. I'm planning to install a dual setup. Ideally, I'd like a nice V8 rumble, but not annoyingly loud, and not a "dump truck" sound either. It's a completely stock engine, I don't need anything extreme.

The two sources I've found seem to be Waldron (1957-66 Chrysler Imperial V8 Dual Exhaust w/Resonators) and Classic Exhaust (1963 Chrysler Imperial 8 Cyl Engine Dual Exhaust System | ClassicExhaust). Waldron seems to have a few more options, but the most recent thread on here didn't seem too happy with them. Classic seems to be a little less expensive and have shorter wait time.

- Can anyone share first-hand experiences with these companies to help my decision?
- Given that I only have a single pipe right now, does anyone know how I can figure out how many clamps or hangers I will need to buy?

I don’t have experience with either one but another option would be to check into local exhaust shops. A good shop will do just as good of job as one of these kits. IMO almost any full exhaust with cambered style mufflers will not be loud. If you find a shop with performance car experience you can tell them what sound you want and they can help you pick the correct mufflers.

I'm a bit late on finding this, but would strongly recommend resonators for an Imperial, especially if you're switching to dual exhaust.

Just last week had duals put on my 62 Imperial by a local muffler shop. Did a great job. The Magnaflow mufflers might be a little loud but it sounds great! Was around $900.

for what you are doing, go with Waldron's. ive used their kits and have been very happy with them, most recently with a dual exh set up on a 78 New Yorker

The frame rails on these cars never fail to astonish me. That's the engineering that got them banned from demolition derbies! I like the exhaust, too. My only change would be to tuck the tailpipes up behind the bumper a little so they won't scrape on an inclined driveway. You may not have that problem.

Yeah everything in Phoenix is flat. No inclined anything here!

If the noise gets to you - add some resonators on the rear, I'd imagine that Magnaflows with resonators would create a nice "Bently with muscle" sound........
