3" Backing Plates

I'm curious if the 2 1/2 brake backing plates will work with 3" shoes. I don't
think they will but wanted to check with the experts.

The rear brake support, or backing plate, for 11"x3" rear drum brakes were the same on the C-bodies and the D-body (Imperial) for each model year from 1963 - 1971. 11"x3" rear brakes were dropped for C-bodies in 1972, but continued on the Imperial into 1973.

The part number changed due to revisions but the shared applications remained the same. The part numbers for the 11"x3" rear brake support and the years used are as follows:

• 1963 - 1964: part numbers 2266892 & 2266893
• 1965 - 1967: part numbers 2405752 & 2405753
• 1968 - 1970: part numbers 2880648 & 2880649
• 1971 - 1973: part numbers 3461986 & 3461987 (Imperial only in 1972 and 1973)
