PA. Turnpike 75th Anniversary

Last month I got to cross something off my bucket list, I rode my bike on the abandoned section of the PA. turnpike. Turns out the Pike turned 75 this year, they published a book to celebrate," Moments in Motion " is a coffee table book with some great photo's and history of the Pike. Here are a few examples. With Mopars of course.

75 years and the only thing that changed is the toll. It is still the same embarrassing POS.

And I see the Valiant long roof in front of one of the old Ho-Joes which all the plazas were into the '80s. I miss 'um !

Think we should tell our friend from NorCal where there iz no water at all to speak of, what a water table actually iz and what happens when you cut through bed rock and breach that water table while smoothing out the smoky mountains and then try to plug the breach and asphalt over it. And then watch what happens to your nice new 4 lane-6 lane hi-way when you start getting freeze and thaw cycles?

Then you get up a little farther north and the snow plows are scrapping it and tossing salt on it by the truck load....
