I found a 08 SRT Challenger with 16K miles I am interested in. Any opinions or advice on these?

If you're buying it for investment (like a lot of people did that first model year) keep in mind that many others did the same thing. Plus you cant drive-and-enjoy much without diminishing the value. The car has been improved several times over 2008 and more/less looks the same, so if you're going to drive it, I'd look for a newer version.

BTW, there are zero percent finance deals out there right now, including Scat Pack which will outperform the 2008 and give you warranty.
It depends as what you want the car for.....
20O8 Challengers came with 6.1L rated at 425 HP. Not bad. Only 16k miles so I would think you wouldn't want to beat on it too hard.
2011 and up came with the 6.4L and they have 485 HP now. The newest ones come with the Performance Pages which gives you the Line Lock and Launch Control features.
I bought a 2019 Scat Pack Plus Charger which has all the Hellcat stuff except the 6.2L Supercharger. Very nice.
About a month ago I bought a 2019 Redeye Widebody Challenger. I should of bought the Redeye first....
Oh well, I'm happy as hell with both cars.
It all depends what you are after. You can get brand new regular Hellcat Charger or Challenger probably in the high $50's and I'm sure with this current virus situation you could even get better deal and possibly 0% interest.

My wife is “strongly encouraging “ me to get rid of the Fury, get a Challenger and get “an old car you can play with later.” She will be getting a windfall in about a year and has offered to buy a restored Fury if that is what I want.
Budget constraints withstanding, I went to the Dodge site and I think the RT with 6 speed manual and performance handling package in B5 would be my pick. Not super expensive and nice to drive.
I figured with the mileage someone bought it and put it up.

For a fun driver the R/T with a 6 speed in your favorite color would be a good choice. Plus the full warranty, cheap financing and any applicable rebates would be deal sweeteners.

How much is the 08?
That 6.1 is no slouch and more than capable of losing you your license.
With only 16k on the clock it should still look like a new car after a trip to the detail shop and personally I prefer the styling of the first gen LX Challenger.
The difference in price between an 08 and a 2020 should buy you most of if not all of a restored 68 Sport Fury complete with clutch pedal.

There is an issue with rust holes in the quarter panels behind the doors that happens in rust belt areas. How about a new one instead? Some smoking deals on 19's-

Several ways to look at the new vs used deal. IF you're after the newest and bestest, then new (with a warranty) is the best deal. IF you can get basically the same car, with some of the earlier (more basic) features, in a well-maintained vehicle, to drive and enjoy, then the used one might be the best deal.
When new, the SRTs were ground-breaking, at the time, but what has also happened is that every few years, a better one happens. Sometimes more power and ways to better use the "more power". Then the upgraded nav systems. The Performance Pages is a very neat thing to have, though. Don't need a drag strip, if that matters.
Only thing with a used one, if you find a good one, you'll need to act on it before it's gone. IF it's what you want.

I’d go for a newer one at that price, personally... nice car, but the updated interior in the newer ones are light years ahead of that design. Plus as mentioned, a little more omph.

That pricing is insane. I bought my '15 Mustang GT in January of 2016 for $2k more... If you don't mind getting left behind at stoplights or the track, and you just want a big fat V8 car to be cushy in, and the performance isn't as relevant, just buy a newer R/T and blend in with everyone else.

If you want a blue six speed (good choice), would you be happy with an orange auto? Also what's the newest vehicle you've ever owned? Depending on what you're used to, an '08 SRT8 Challenger could be a major step up. I see that the used one is at a dealer, what's the deal down there with taxes on a used car? Up here in Canada, if you buy a used car from a dealer, you have to pay goods and services tax, 5%, which was also paid when the vehicle was initially purchased. I have a hard time swallowing this arrangement, and so, have never purchased a used car from a dealer, or a new one for that matter.

Mechanically it's fine. It's the electronics and parts availability that concern me. Some of those control the engine. 2¢
