They will just weld some 3/8' or 1/2" plate on either side of the rails, usually also put a piece of plate on the top of the rails to keep them straight and then go "knock heads" as it were. Rules vary for place to place.

I guess we’re spoiled out here. I don’t know anyone who’d derby a death trap rust bucket. Ours are all sun baked and crispy. We’re doing a 73 delta for next year’s AV fair.

That car is a mess, i'm sure it could be fixed up if the right guy really wanted to do it but it would take a lot of time, work, and money. I think it's a good parts car or maybe winter car if you have a spare engine at this point, poor car
