    ‘65 Imperial Steering coupler/rag joint

My ‘65 Imperial rag joint/steering coupler just recently went out leading to the steering binding and some popping noises. I’ve been looking for a couple online and saw several, I did find one from Lares (part number 3575303) on classic industries as well as another on Mopar mall. The Mopar mall...

Tilt tele steering column hep needed.

What is the size of spline on the rag joint. I need to remove the rag joint for space consideration. Hitting the flange of the hi po manifold. Would like to buy a borgeson coupler. Or something like it rather than just cutting up a perfectly good rag joint. Mine specs out at .720" ??? Is that...

    Intermittent horn

When you push the horn button you are sending a ground to the horn relay. You are losing your ground intermittingly. Does your car have a rag joint above the sector? Sometimes that is the culprit.

    Steering rag joint and coupler

...the steering column there is a lot of play coming from the coupler. Is there a replacement or rebuild kit that fits? I going to replace the rag joint with a Lares 220. Going to replace all the brakes and drums, then eventually a front end suspension rebuild. But I thought I would start with...

    Accursed Rear Drivers Spark Plug

...not quite the same as a Fusey, I lay across the engine from the passenger side and use my left hand to reach down to that plug. I'm not left handed, but from that angle, it actually works well and I avoid the rag joint entirely. Also used the same method for those pesky starter bolts/nuts.

    Accursed Rear Drivers Spark Plug

This never even occurred to me, I guess that makes sense. I’ve been trying to get at it from the top and the rag joint on the steering shaft is directly in front of it with no clearance. I’ll crawl under it, thanks!

    Steering wheel position

The earlier cars had the steering coupler/rag joint working like a u-joint putting stress on them, this was the fix. Alan

    Accursed Rear Drivers Spark Plug

I did **** like that a quarter century or more ago. Mind you, I'm left handed. I laid on the 440 in my '66 NYer to start that #7 plug loose. I MISS that car, even now.

    Intermittent horn

Yes, I used a nice bit of #12 copper wire across my rag joint. Horn worked very well with that. Alas, it didn't stop the psychopath c**t insurance fraudster from deliberately pulling out in front of our '66 4 yrs ago. I since that keep a running watch on this evil creature, confirming my...

WANTED 77 Monaco tilt/telescopic Saginaw column needed.

Thanks! Any idea what shipping might run to NNJ? 07006. I don’t need the rag joint portion or the wheel itself if it is cracked up, as it seems they all are.

    Intermittent horn

...lies under your hood. Try jumpering the tab on the horn relay. Does the horn beep consistently then? If yes, then check around the rag joint. There should be a spring connecting the bolts from the upper half of the joint to the lower half. This assures the path to ground for the steering...

Two Wires into One Packard Connector Terminal?

Regardless, I don't think I have the rag joint on my steering wheel assembly. Maybe someone can look at this photo and tell me for sure.

Horn not working, steering shaft not grounded.

...looks like a good fix! The last car I had this grounding problem with was a 1966 Chevrolet, and I had to place a jumper wire across the rag joint. I’m not so familiar with the Chrysler so I have a few questions: Did you have to take the steering column out of the car too accomplish this...

Horn not working, steering shaft not grounded.

...rubber part which naturally acts as an insulator. To permit it to turn with the column, it is fastened on to the biscuit's fasteners on both sides. If that biscuit (or rag joint, coupler etc.) was replaced, often the wire or spring gets trashed or forgotten about, and then the horn doesn't...

65-68 Dodge Phoenix steering box removal and install info

...pliers or something: As you can see, the steering box is already out of the vehicle. But before you do that, you need to disconnect the rag joint. It can be removed without having to unbolt the steering column, but space will be very tight if you don't want to get the brake booster out of...
