What is a Sport Fury III, or a Sports Fury?

but considering the percentage of car guys out there that know anything about vintage Mopars , having to explain to everybody else what a sure grip is gets old fast

    1962 Chrysler Newport

I thought the "63" and earlier "sure grip" was the long axle 1.25 thrust block? With pre 64 open having the short axle 1.5 thrust block? And 64 and later open and sure grip are the same short axle 1.5 thrust block? And the post 63 axle will fit all the open rears? But not the pre 64 sure grip...

Thanks. Yes it has sure grip w 2.2 gears (ugh) I don't see why it would effect it either but who knows with these systems.

    9.25 Sure Grip Axle Problems

hi, everyone. it's been a little while since i posted. i need help with a grinding noise coming from the axle on my 77 NYB. we thought at first it was axle bearings, but those turned out to be fine. I've replaced the gear oil, including the Mopar friction modifier in Valvoline 80-90...

Meet Regina FQ3, a 1970 Polara convertible who turns 51 today

The next day was more testing. I was out in Regina for hours driving. She is a fantastic car, and I'm pretty sure the rear end issues are behind us, until her father does the right thing and has the center section rebuilt and set up with the proper sure grip to go with the 3.23 ratio she now sports.

Looking for production info on 62 Newport Coupe 3 Speed

I own a '62 Chrysler 300 "Sport" Convertible with the three-speed manual transmission, 413 option, no P.S. or P.B. but does have the "Sure-Grip' rear end. Chrysler archives sent me the punch card to confirm some information. I have located no one that can give actual confirmed numbers. I have...

What is a Sport Fury III, or a Sports Fury?

I disagree. A posi rear is a GM term, sure grip is a Mopar term. Just because it's come to be accepted doesn't make it correct.

‘67 Fury 440 Stroker Rearend Humming Noise

I suspect the sound is speed related? When does the sound start to get louder? Does the pitch change as the car might be swayed from side to side at 45mph? What gear ratio? Sure Grip? An 8.75" rear axle? Might need to pull the assy out and check the engagement pattern on the ring gear...

‘67 Fury 440 Stroker Rearend Humming Noise

The sound is speed related yes, and it gets louder at anything over 25mph. The pitch does not change as the car gets swayed at 45mph no. Sorry I should of mentioned all the rearend details when I first posted this, but yes it is a sure-grip with a 3.23 ratio and an 8.75” axle. The ring gear was...

By center section, I meant the whole piece pictured below. Sure grip is a part of it. Disregard if your rear is not 8.75"

    1964 rear end swap

I now have a pair of 69 C body axles. I'm going to try and use them in the 64 full size axle housing that's in the 64 New Yorker with the 69 C roller bearings and adjuster. I think they will work all the way back to 64 open and sure-grip. But not the 63 open rear. But will work in 63 sure-grip...

    66 Plymouth Fury 1

I would like to get 318 built like I’ve seen hopefully 400 hp. possibly, 727 trans; 4 bbl, headers, sure grip rear end. I have a lot of research to do, still tearing everything down. Retire in about a year, then work on it full time, just cleaning up all the gunk right now, thanks.

    Engine build

Most 496 stroker kits are internally balanced, and would therefore run a neutral convertor, you do not need or want a balanced convertor with that setup. Balanced convertors should only be used on a build that needs external balancing. Read the technical specs for your prospective purchase and...
