    Steering gear box choices

...push it harder. The noise is not as much as first sound of resistance but it sounds like resistance in the hydraulics. C-bodies have the rag joint, so it might kill the sound from traveling up the steering shaft and exiting through your wheel. Peter is a great vendor, stands by his products...

    1964 300k steering wheel issue

They don’t have a rag joint 1960-1964. They do have a rubber sleeve at the steering box. Yes the snap ring needs to be in place. watch this video for more info. I don’t like him checking for play and slop with the engine off, that’s not an accurate test at all. System needs to have the...

    WANTED 64 Chrysler Steering Column

Not sure if that will work or not, I'd have to see it to be sure since right around that time they changed from the rubber U-flange in between the shaft and the steering box to a rag joint/coupler assembly.

I am not an expert on all things Mopar unfortunately. Does the Monaco already have a rag joint at the column in addition to the factory coupler at the box? If so the rag joint will act as your vibration reducer and eliminate the hydraulic noise.

    Steering Wheel "Horn Pad" removal

OK, you didn't say it was 180 degrees out. All this makes sense why your mechanic couldn't correct this with the tie rod adjustment. I figured it was just off a few degrees.... So, yea, you have to take the rag joint apart and spin it 180 degrees. It shouldn't be too hard.

Hey Saylor, We made the boxes to fit original pitman arms. Didn't realize you had an issue sourcing them for the C bodies. Something we can look into for sure as well as the rag joint. Thanks!

    1973 Newport Alignment Help

The way to get maximum assist in returning the wheel to center after a turn is to set the control arms for maximum caster. Think of bicycle forks for a minute, as they are curved forward as they go from the handle bars down the forks to the bike wheel center. That tilts the forks backward at...
