Restoration parts companies rant! Van's & Mr Moparts

Just a morning rant! I'm wondering if its just me or does anyone else notice many of the restoration parts companies we have to work with seem to be an unorganized mess with their business and/or fall in line with most of other retail of this generation and not give a single crap about customer...

    '66 Newport 2 Door hardtop

My car shows really well. I got super lucky finding a '66 Newport that had been well cared for all of these 57 years. Previous owners repaired rusted out panels, installed a new windshield, new paint, sprayed truck liner in the trunk, replaced the carpet, new tires, new shocks, new rear...

71 Sport Suburban EV2 - My latest purchase..

The tailgate upper rear window seals are almost certainly rotten. A few folks on the site have tried to come up with replacements, but they are virtually impossible to find. I worked with Steele Rubber Products in Denver, NC and cobbled together a “close enough” replacement, but they told me...

    1966 Dodge Monaco Wagon

Some more info on the car: PO said rear window motor was dead. Tried having someone push the tailgate while hitting the switch, window went right up, turns out it was just an interlock being funky. Window works perfectly now. Most of the worn paint and rust in the cargo area came off easily with...

Tailgate glass down, can't get it to raise

Making the window raise when the tailgate is down will likely break the glass unless you are supporting it in some way! not sure what kind of jumper wire you rigged so thought i would caution you about that.

    Is this Monaco worth $2500?

It's not common by any means. I sold my running and driving '68 Monaco 500 for $2300 back in 2021. The engine was tired and needed a rebuild, as did the transmission but both got me where I needed to be and never let me down. It had all the trim, a huge bonus. The windshield was cracked, but...

Restoration parts companies rant! Van's & Mr Moparts

Life will be much easier if you choose to drive a Ford Model A, Mustang, or a Chevy Camaro, Corvette, or a GTO from Pontiac. I'm amazed that there are any parts available for such a niche market as 50+ year old C-body Mopars that they made relatively few of in the first place. I'm very...

    67 Fury wagon cat whiskers

Looking to replace the missing weatherstrip that seals the glass to the door, I believe they are called cat whiskers. Are the 4 door sedan seals the same as for the wagon? Also does anyone make a replacement for the tailgate window?

NOT MINE 1959 Plymouth savoy $2,000

not mine Log into Facebook Pretty solid overall. The rockers are pretty much gone, but the floors and trunk are mostly okay, only needing small patches. It’s got the 230 straight six with the three speed manual. It runs and drives, but the starter was shot. Sent it off to get rebuilt and the...

    Roof Rail Weatherstrip Install

On the roofrail, usually no clips, except at the front end at the base of the A-pillar, kind of out of sight. From there back NO clips using the stiffer sections in the corners (top of the A-pillar and C-pillar) and at the very rear to locate things. Other that there, the weatherstrip just...

    help needed

Many people changed out the "troublesome" Holley 4160s for Carter AVS, back then. Troublesome? The quality of the bowl gaskets and such were poor for Holleys of that vintage, so the AVS was the preferred "go to" replacement. Put them on, adjust them, and they would "run forever", whereas the...

What are you working on today??

Forgot the pics! The circular cardboard cover that goes over the spare has some sort of label on it. Any idea what it says? I have one carboard inside fender cover that is ok, plus the one that fits inside the inner fender behind the jack itself. The other two are toast. I have seen re pops of...

    Window-age in my 77 Newport

Hi Blish: The grease in these power window assemblies will harden and result in a locked - rotor condition for the power window motor, which would correlate to a large draw of amperage, which you have noted in the dimming lights, but very little or no movement of the window. The second issue...

NOT MINE 1967 Chrysler Newport 4 dr HT - $4,400 (Sacramento)

Not mine of course and would usually ignore because this one is in bad shape. Yet seeing as how the seller calls the condition fair I thought I would post it. There is also that subtle ultimatum at the end. condition: fair cylinders: 8 cylinders drive: rwd fuel: gas odometer: 66000 paint...
