'77 AutoTemp II to Manual conversion

I recently converted my 77 New Yorker from Auto Temp II to manual controls. It's been done before and there are some threads here already about it, but I figured I'd share my experience as I may've done things a bit differently than others. First, the lead up to this... I got my 77 with a...

...the servo and amplifier inside the car and left the coolant regulator under the hood. Same system just moved the parts around, so it's an Autotemp II mark 2 from 74-78. Anyway, your symptom of air not redirecting into the dash etc as commanded is an amplifier failure (the electrical...

    7,800 Original Mile Creampuff

Thank you. I concur: a car is only original once. PS: I see that your car has the H53 AutoTemp II. Luckily, this system can be fixed -- @saforwardlook has posted detailed instructions if you get around to it.

    7,800 Original Mile Creampuff

Mercedes used the AutoTemp II components from Chrysler around the same time, so you can also look there too for sources. If you look, this guy has an electronic replacement for the control box. Mercedes used the same large controller with all the vacuum hoses going into it. Early Climate Control...

AC requirement and retrofitting for an imperial

what car is it for? I have a full A/C system out of a 66 sport fury, it would need you to send it out to have it gone through and cleaned up but have everything you should need if its a 65 or 66 fury including the dash with vent cut outs and vents. Was going to put it in my 66 but plans...

    NOT MINE 1977 NewYorker ebay

This car is a fantastic find. Gonna need a 55gal drum of elbow grease but I'm willing to bet it would look like new. Gotta check for the AutoTemp II first then expect to replace all the rubber stuff. Wish I was younger.

    Autotemp 2 .help needed

Autotemp II, version 2.0, oh no! The road to success is always under construction. Thirty years later, they nailed it! Even have dual climate control and what not these days. Mercedes really made a major step forward in butt crack cooling when they introduced their perforated upholstery with...

    Autotemp 2 .help needed

The underhood controller was also used by Mercedes. IF you need that. Should be in the aftermarket, I suspect? I know it used to be. Go to www.mymopar.com and look in the Chrysler MasterTech video area for a segment on the AutoTemp II system. That might help you understand it better. CBODY67

    1978 Chrysler Newport

The pics didn't really provide any valid reason why that car deserves $7,500.00. Yep, looks good from a cellphone. And it's a Newport. And probably has a fragile wiper bushing. Fully functional HVAC? Manual or AutoTemp II? Also, you can't go running to Summit for much.

    Welcome, Doug227

I purchased a 1975 Imperial a few weeks ago and have repaired several small items so far such as window motors, clock, radio, and a/c compressor. I now get cold air from the autotemp II unit but only the low fan speed.

Imperial & C-body gathering in the Detroit area

I had a great time! I brought my ‘72 Imp and had a flawless trip with AutoTemp II and cruise. I love this car! I met lots of Mopar folks and saw many really great cars. Thanks Matt!

    Auto temp 2 :(

To be clear: AutoTemp II version 1.0 with the under hood servo/ coolant combo assembly ended in 73; AutoTemp II next gen, 2.0 whatever was 74-78, included separation of the leaky underhood assembly by putting the servo inside the car on the heater box. For years (literally) I struggled with...

    I have a confession to make…

I will be redoing my green 72 and brown 73 so there will be a lot more to come on the AutoTemp II topic. I have never dealt with this system before but I fix cars for a living so this is not too hard.

    Auto temp 2 :(

Thanks, I have never seen that system. I think Autotemp I is quite a nice system. The servo/ coolant combo in the version II seems not like a good combination. Is it possible to get a new amplifier or to have it rebulit?
