    Shocks

The listing for rear shock is too short, You should go the longer shock, 24" KG5413 KYB rear. KG4507 KYB front. Install 72 dodge pick up truck rear brake flex hose to allow max drop of axel to remove wheels easy. The listed c-body hose is too short and when you lift car the hose gets stretched.

Thanks to everyone who suggested the KYB shocks! My front set did not come with the strap. The picture shows a 36 inch zip-tie used to reduce the length by 4 inches to create the needed clearance. Two suggestions (or one old fools opinion); A) For the bottom of the front shock (top of rear)...

Which KYB shocks x4 for 1961 Newport

...which ANY shock manufacturer would be consistent on, even if they might provide an "adapter kit" in the box with the shock. Now, why does KYB have "a gap" in their coverage? Might even be as simple as "an over-sight" they made, not knowing that? Which is why I looked in the Gabriel and...

Can shocks with springs affect ride height?

One more question, would a firmer riding shock like KYB or Bilstein ride higher than say a base Monroe or Gabriel shock? (Or as high as the ones I have now)?

If it's a gas charged shock, yes. Conventional shock that's not gas charged, no.

Which KYB shocks x4 for 1961 Newport

After I made my comments about other model years and Chrysler big-car models, I went into the KYB website and looked around for what they offered. For some reason, no 1961 Plymouths or Dodges, but seems like there were '62s and '59s? What they showed for the front shocks had a metal tube over...

Which KYB shocks x4 for 1961 Newport

I have bought the Gabriel shocks front and rear. It was a match with my year and make of car. Gabriel wasn't my first choice but they will fit. If I have issues with them down the road I can always look again for what is out there. (supposed to arrive today)

    Is KYB "Losing It's Stuff?"

customer supplied or it was the part number that matched from your supplier? wonder if the supplier or customer got the wrong part. I bought the gas-a-just for a 67 fury from rockauto, and the shocks were the same size and everything. A few of us down under (and some on these forums too) have...

For aussies: Dodge Phoenix 65-68 inner tie rods PSA

...from them, and looking at the prices of the stuff they sell...to be frank it's a ripoff. I've always just looked up parts on their site, then just going to rockauto to see how much cheaper it is lol. As an example, the KYB gas-a-just rear shocks they sell is about 55 AUD cheaper from Rockauto.

Can shocks with springs affect ride height?

...ride height. Springs n things (Leaf Springs For Your Car or Light Truck 1940-1990's+ ) among others can happily accommodate you in this. KYB isn't all THAT stiff, but their product reacts very well. The only way to really add ride height with shocks is to either get air shocks, with all...

    Shock Grommet Removal?

...grommets still in but I see a metal sleeve in them from what I believe are the original shocks. I believe I remove these before installing my new KYB shocks with new grommets. I want to make sure before pulling them out and also what about that metal sleeve? Any insight and experience is...

67 Polara - Can I Do Shocks and Struts at Home?

Get KYB Gas-a-just shocks. You wont be dissapointed. Tip: Front shocks compress them and zip tie them. Put them in place, bolt the top and cut zip tie. Bolt the bottom. Done. No need to mess with torsion bars, lol

Yep, KYB shocks ride a bit stiff.

    1969 Imperial progress thread

For whatever it's worth, I had this same problem with the bushings on some Gabriel Classic shocks I installed on the front of my '63 last year. Both new shocks had the same width bushing, but it was maybe 1/16 too wide to fit. I trimmed mine down with a hand file until they matched the old...
