    General A727 Potential R&R questions/suggestions.

The first boost in performance it to get rid of the 2.76 gears. They kill the torque. 2 ideas here 1) Think of removing lug nuts, the longer the breaker bar the easier it is to do the work. 2) Think of your bicycle riding days. Starting off in 10th gear was difficult and you had no torque...

    Jack question

...moveable section of the jack. I suspect the lug wrench might be more universal, too? BUT always check the lug wrench to ensure it fits the lug nuts on the vehicle! As I recall, the jack base, turned upside down, goes on top of the spare tire, the retention stud sticks though it, and the...

66 fury instrument panel connector pins

I should think it can be done. I would suggest starting with one pin, and then doing the next one that's the farthest away from the one you just did. Keeps the heat soak in the circuit board and such down... kinda like torquing lug nuts - cross over the hub each time.

Is anyone else depressed looking at new vehicles?

I agree with you regarding engineers getting carried away with designing. I worked with many who always wanted to ‘improve’ their design. However, the product had to go to production. I like what Musk is doing. Although, the product isn’t ready for me yet. I worked for Hughes Aircraft Company...

    Longer wheel studs

...spacers for some non-OEM backspacing wheels or such? In many dirt track racing classes, they used to require long studs such that with the lug nuts fully installed, there were a few inches of stud exposed past the lug nut. Longer studs might compromise the installation of any factory hub...

Looking for advice + id these rims

...in there to center on the hub of the front wheel bearing "tower", which means only the rear wheels are "lug centric"? If the seats for the lug nuts are in good shape, if you are careful when you torque the lug nuts, in sequence (torque and position), that everything will center anyway...

    Thoughts on Aluminum Wheels

...take a look. The right side went on with no problem. When I got home they said there was a problem. The impact wrench would not take the lug nuts off. When I told them they were left hand threads, they could not understand. I got a big kick out of that. I like the fit of the rear tires, but...

1968 Plymouth fury iii wheel studs

Also feel for the grooves from the previous lug to 'index' it to these grooves to make them go in way easier. (edit) I'd leave the 'lefties' in there to fool todays punk wheel thieves!!! .

Performance plus price for American Racing VN501, with the red-line 235 70r/15's, mounted, balanced, and shipped with lug nuts is under 2K plus tax. Since the tires are built to order, it will be about 4-6 weeks before I see them. I'm thinking this is the way that I'm going to go. I can save...

    Axle Leaking

...can figure out how to pull that axle. Just 5 nuts and give it a yank... If it doesn't want to come out easy, turn the drum around, put some lug nuts on it loose and use the drum like a slide hammer. I've never not been able to pull an 8 3/4 axle out that way. Once you get that axle out, we...

...rear to right hand. I really wanted to have lefts and rights, but I didn't want 3 rights and 1 left.... Easy to get right hand studs and lug nuts, and easier to change the rears, so that made the decision for me. Here's the tip... I have a broken air chisel bit that I rounded the end a...

    1968 Monaco 500 New Owner!

...gets the modern section width. As to wheels, either some repro 15x7 Rallys (as 1970 or so B and E-bodies had, with center caps and chrome lug nuts), some repro Magnum 500s, or some VN-501s (15x7, 4.0 or 4.25" backspacing) would look good. Whitewalls could be OEM with the Magnum 500s, but in...
