Wow! That’s a lot of fan spacers!
I really appreciate all of the great info.
Now I just need to figure out which one I need. The factory service manual says I need a 1.72" spacer, but the factory parts catalog says I need a 1.06" spacer.

No, unfortunately it’s not. The previous owner said the original block cracked and wasn’t repairable. He sourced a used block from a Super Bee and had it bored .030 over. He stated that everything from the previous engine was swapped over. He did replace the carburetor with a rebuilt unit a few...
Hey Big_John,
I don’t have a picture yet, but I did run the VIN through two different decoders. Both indicate that the car was originally a 4-barrel car. It makes me wonder why someone would pull the intake manifold and carb setup to convert it to a 2-barrel. Weird.
On the topic of the...
I’ve been poking around on the internet, and it appears that my car should have come with a 22" radiator from the factory. Currently, it has a 26" radiator.
The previous owner stated that he installed a new radiator not too long ago. Is there any way to determine whether this car came with a...
Thank you for confirming. Now I just need to figure out if that’s the correct one I need. The factory service manual states that I need the 1.72" spacer, which is part number 1674746. The factory parts book lists part number 1851959, which is 1.060" thick.

Note: The single asterisk in...
For the fan spacer, the bottom line in this section fits my car: “w/o Air Cond.”
The part number appears to be 1851 959.

EDIT #1: I may have spoken too soon. After searching around on the interwebs, it appears that this spacer is 1.060" thick. The factory service manual states that...
Thanks!
This may be a really stupid question, but why were these installed so often? I’ve seen these exact lights on multiple cars from the sixties. Was it purely for safety, or did people think they were cool?

The person who started the thread also replied later, saying:
So it sounds like it’s not actually clockwise, but he doesn’t remember for sure. Someone tried to get clarification, but he never responded.

I recently acquired a 1966 Newport with the stock 383 2-barrel engine.
I noticed that the spring and counterweight are missing on the exhaust manifold heat riser mechanism. Does anyone know which way to turn it so that it stays open?
I found this thread, but there was never a definitive...
Hello all!
I recently acquired a 1966 Newport with the stock 383 2-barrel engine. The previous owner removed the factory mechanical fan and installed an aftermarket electric unit in front of the radiator.
I'd like to return to the factory setup if possible. I checked the factory service...
