I am stumped with the brakes on Tux

...pressure. no change. tried parking brake, locks tight, released parking brake, very tight wheels. Still hard pedal. I took temps when I returned, right rear 205 deg, left rear 195 deg. Fronts 150, all temps taken between lug nuts on wheel. I didn't think the crack in hose was going to be the...

16 slot road wheel; where to buy lug nuts?

When I bought my '70 Monaco Brougham in 1975, with the "then-unusual" W23 16-Slot Road Wheels, the lug nuts that were on the car were more like the one on the far left of your picture. With a medium "tower" on them. Should be the same ones that can on the later '75 Cordobas and C-bodies, I...

Worst case scenario . . . get a die grinder and split the lug nuts. Must be one powerful air ratchet! CBODY67

    Is this Monaco worth $2500?

Basically what my original question was.. that I have the wheels that are currently on the car as well as 5- 15" steel wheels as well and whether or not a guy in 2023 should go with one or the other? I think I have decided to use the current wheels and purchase the 14" tires. However, I do tend...

16 slot road wheel; where to buy lug nuts?

There is only one source that makes absolutely correct road wheel lug nuts and it is PG Classic. Here is a listing on Ebay for the left hand lug nuts and there is only one set of these left if you need LH ones (many have converted to all RH ones for the obvious reasons). Better be fast if you...

16 slot road wheel; where to buy lug nuts?

When I bought the Dorman lug nuts from Rockauto I also purchased a nice lug nut wrench and a deep socket to fit them. After installing them myself , just once, I sprayed them with WD40 and from that point on they all just shed their chrome plating. All down to super poor quality I think. We...

    Help

I had a 64 Valiant in high school. Wanted to see what a chrome wheel looked like on the car. Shop broke a lug stud. They said bring it back on the next Saturday. They proceeded to break all the lug studs and had to replace them all. And this was back in the mid 60's.

What are you working on today??

I think you have some bigger issues if the lug nuts are coming loose after only a couple miles...and this is happening more then once! How did you install the new wheel studs, Maybe they got stretched? Also how old are your lugnuts, are they good quality or cheap/sketchy off shore units?

    Removing tires

There's no picture in your post, but I can guess the problem you are having. If your car is 1970 or older, it has left hand threaded lug nuts on the left side. Jeff

16 slot road wheel; where to buy lug nuts?

Problem with the solid chrome plated lug nuts is that unless you have some sort of "interface" between the socket and the nut, the chrome will crack and peel from the base steel nut, leaving rust, by observation. Impact wrenches can be you enemy. Been there, done that. CBODY67

...so it has a local feel to it. Anyhow, I am in the lobby talking with the manager and the younger tech comes in and says he can’t get the lug nuts off. That’s when I tell him the driver side is all reverse threaded by design. He looked at me like I had two heads. And that was the moment I...
