1958 Dodge Coronet - Moving from Flathead to a V8

Was it actually different frames or different set-ups for the motor mounts? I have had a few 56-60 v-8 poly engines, but no 6cyl, although I know they are very different in motor mount set-ups...

Best way to mount hoist to 400 big block? First time pulling motor.

    1. Mark the bolt positions on the hood hinges, and remove the hood. Will make it easier when you put it back on. 2. Most likely and the usual way is the intake manifold bracket in place of the carb (although this is easiest, can't say its the safest), cross chains mounted to intake bolts work...

69 and older voltage regulator vs 1970 and newer in 1969 C-Body

Thanks @Vaanth - awesome reply / info! I think i will procure a new solid state 69-Down unit for now since everything is fairly recent and in good order. Appreciate the insights. I will keep an eye out for that B-Body mount ... kinda reminds me of the ignition module mount i snagged off a 73...

Had a new engine mount laying around and replaced that. Looks like that might have done the trick. Motor seems way more stable now.

    Why was there a motor-mount change from '65 to '66 ?

The 1965 Plymouth service manual is the only '65 manual I can find that shows frame dimensions. I compare the 1965 Fury diagram with 1967. Since Fury had slant-6 and V-8 options for both years, I'm comparing the V-8 diagrams only. The 1966 Chrysler and Monaco frame diagrams matches the...

Loud creak when letting go of gas pedal

...handy? Pull the dipstick and get a few drops off that. Ideally, a pump can with plain old motor oil is nice to have. Again, check the motor mount. Linkage won't make that kind of noise... and actually, by not having any noise when revving it with no load really points to that being the...

Brake pressure disappears after starting the car.

As well meaning as your source might be, there was no "Satellite 3" in the USA, but a FURY III, which is a companion C-body car. 1965s had a unique lh engine mount, but 1966+ have the "standardized" lh engine mount. If you now have the LA318, identifiable by a smooth lower valve cover stamping...

What did you do to your C-body today....

...that I did not do last week. Was glad to learn that it did, indeed, need to be replaced. I don't think I replaced this 21 years ago when I first did the motor mounts, as I had no memory of this job. You can see by the rubber coming out that it needed replacing. Actually, a fairly easy swap.

Machining work 516 heads port work/bigger valves/hardened seats??

Hello again sir. That's pretty neat you have brochures even from the 60's, pretty neat is also the fact that you can search up brochures in today's age. Yes sir, the long block I bought from the gentleman has also confirmed that the 361 was out of a coronet, so some information is lining up...

    NOT MINE 1968 Dodge Polara 500 Convertible L-code - $14,500 Idaho

Agreed, that's a 70-71 driverside manifold. I missed the alternator bracket on first glance. Seller says 'looks rust free'. I can come up with 4 ways to interpret that: 1 - We didn't really look it over, and we don't see any rust when we stand near it. 2 - It has lots of rust, but it doesn't...

    Heavy Metal

This near-100ton behemoth was initially called Heavy Tank T28, but the project was reclassified 105mm Gun Motor Carriage T95. The vast majority of this weight came from the massive 12 inches of frontal armour! By contrast Shermans had 2" thick front hull. A 105mm main gun in a heavily...

my 1972 fury wagon from the field to daily driver

My dad saw the regulator on the bench and got sucked into freeing it. So now I just gotta get the hardware and mount the motor. And more good news had my friend kick the gate while held the switch and we got it free

Engine swap should I go 360 or 383

...performer. Also, use the carb that’s on it, it’s an edelbrock. If it needs attention, buy an edelbrock rebuild kit for it. The poly motor mounts will work with a little massaging. The drivers side ears on the 360 are closer together, and will likely have a bolt hole that isn’t on the motor...

Oh sparkplugs I run some MSD platinum. A small bit colder as NGK GR4. The motor mount does seem pretty soft, as the rest of the car runs on Poly and it loud and rattly anyway, should I put some solid or polyloc motormounts on it? Id rather not....

Loud creak when letting go of gas pedal

Sounds like a motor mount. Have someone get in the car, put it in drive and hold the brake very firmly while they stab the accelerator pedal quickly and let off just as quick. In other words, a quick blip. You look under the hood. If the engine lifts an inch or so, it's a motor mount. Not...
