    38 Yr Awakening, E86 ‘78 Fury 4-Door

...trip to pick up another “vee-hickle” I spotted an engine block hanging off a three point hitch on the rear of an old farm tractor. Here is the original engine from this pursuit car. Good ol’ 188553 It comes with the hard to find big block motor mount brackets. No damage that I see.

For Sale Bucket power seat tracks - rebuilt

The guy I got them from said they were from 66 Imperial I believe. I rebuilt them and in the end they proved too tall for my convertible with new upholstery and springs, plus at the same time I found some alternatives that I like better. Anyway, there are some issues I will describe but the hard...

    440 year Engine fitment

There ARE two different styles of motor mounts, depending upon model year. The "early"/normal mount is the flat, sandwich-style mount. The "later" (like about '72 model year? and later is the "loop" mount. Very visible differences, but I believe they can be interchanged to match the frame...

    WOT the heck?

I checked (not that I doubt Bob) and you are correct. I was off a couple years on that. That kind of negates the theory about the bad motor mount though. The cable, being mounted solidly to the manifold, isn't going to move if the engine moves... Unless the engine moves so far that it yanks...

    WOT the heck?

When the lh motor mount on our '66 Newport 383 2bbl "delaminated", the way I checked it was to have the hood up, trans in "D", left foot firmly on the brake, and slowly raise the engine speed with the accel pedal. You can SEE the motor rotate upward clockwise. Then after it raises, quickly...

    Plug wires.

An observed issue with many wire sets is that they can consolidate applications under one part number of wires. Which can result in some being a bit longer than normal, in some cases. So seeking to make some work where they were not really designed to fir from the factory. Somewhere in the...

    Heavy leaking around oil pump

Thank you! Undoing the engine mount is an unwelcome complication, thought I could pull everything out without this much trouble. I should have looked into it when I replaced the mounts a few months back... Yes, I was looking at Melling.

    Passenger valve cover removal

It should come off. You might need to rotate it clear of the rockers. If that does not work, remove the anchor botls from the opposite side motor mount and place a jack on the opposite side pan tail to slightly rotate the engine. That should give you enough room to remove the cover. Dave

    Heater motor removal.

If it's like my 68 it should come out through the firewall with no need to remove the box from under the dash. A picture of the motor and the nuts you removed would be helpful. There are three nuts that mount the fan. There is also three sheet metal screws around the outer edge, they have a...

Carburetor for 1978 Chrysler New Yorker with 400 engine

Many might prefer an AFB over the newer AVS2, but the AVS2 carburetor is a more recent design and has better primary venturi designs. Both would work, though. As to putting a square bore carburetor where a spread bore carburetor now is, on a spread bore intake manifold, that IS possible. When...

    Heavy leaking around oil pump

If you are going to handle the oil pump, which requires undoing the left motor mount and raise the engine a bit, (sometimes removing the power steering pump--depending on what type of pump--for access) you may as well replace it. Not a job that I like to do twice for the same issue. Get a good...

    Busted motor mount

I noticed today while I was doing a tune up on the Polara, the engine mount on the driver's side is busted. Engine is a 400, but I'm guessing there's no difference between it and the 383 externally. Can anyone recommend a good mount to use?
