Observations on Chryser’s second generation Lean Burn system

It’s not a bad system. I just wanted a faster advance to the timing.

    Aluminum trim polishing

I’ve actually had fairly good luck polishing anodized trim with Mother’s. It will clean the anodized aluminum trim (like the headlights surrounds in my 73 Roadrunner). It will remove any stuck on road film and light surface oxidation without removing the anodized finish. I use just my hand...

Living with my Sniper fuel injected 78 NYB

Car runs fine. Gas mileage kind of sucks because I like goosing it every now and then. About 8-9 mpg in the city. Highway… I get at least double at 70mph.

Living with my Sniper fuel injected 78 NYB

Monitor found a home: After having it the glove box, I didn’t like that I had to open it to see the monitor and then remember to close it to avoid the drain on the battery. So I propped it up between the A/C vent under the glove box and my aftermarket cup holder And the glove box door...

New to me 78 NYB on its way but please Don't tell my wife

Time to polish the wheels and whiten the white walls. Mothers for the wheels and Bleach White for the whitewalls. If you look closely, you can see the reflection of my roadrunner in the wheel. Even whitened that little strip in the front bumper. Took several passes with some fine steel...

    Auto temp 2 :(

I’d keep looking for the metal can. The heat in that area is impressive on these 440s. Great job. Love the thread. Keep it up.

Living with my Sniper fuel injected 78 NYB

As I’ve come to enjoy the reliability of my new sniper, I’m also enjoying dialing it in. One thing I did recently was change the linkage to progressive opening of the throttles. The front two open first followed by the rear at about 30% throttle (as measured by the sniper itself) picked up...

Living with my Sniper fuel injected 78 NYB

Today I reworked the cruise control and throttle cables for smoother operation. Took a small crowbar to it to move it about 1/4 outboard for better alignment. Cruise now engages very positively and works perfectly. However, the set button records the speed that is set but does not activate the...

Living with my Sniper fuel injected 78 NYB

It’s been almost a year since it was installed so I thought I’d start a separate thread as to how this radical change (upgrade?) is going. The good: Starts every frogging time Runs a little smoother and cooler Gas mileage about the same. No more electronic lean burn ignition A lot of things...

78 NYB Holley Sniper install.. the end of my lean burn fun

Working on it. Start up is great! Cold or warm. Usually lights off on first spin. Tip in is just a bit weak. Part throttle is wonderful! Full throttle is meh… Still dialing it in. Getting better. Wash tween requires attention to throttle for IAC as it will often change Up or down...
