Hood release and Parking brake release - reversed?

In my '71 Chrysler 300, the hood release is the furthist to the left and sticks out the farthest. This makes it so easy to open the hood when you are trying to release the parking brake. I find it hard to believe that this is the way it came from the factory. Is it possible that my controls...

    Newbie Paint questions - '71 300

Hello all. I have some newbie paint questions. My '71 300 with Q5 / AY2F: Coral Turquoise Metallic and a white vinyl roof, is in need of a repaint. It appears to have the original paint which is worn to the primer in some high spots. You can tell this single-stage paint is very tired. In...

Wondering where the best places are to jack up my '71 300 using a hydraulic floor jack? I don't want to mess any of the unibody. Can you jack the back end using the differential pumpkin? What about for the front? thank you, Todd

Checking fuel level sensor ('71 300)

Does the gas tank need to be dropped in order to remove the fuel level sensor in the tank? If so, are there any other maintenance items that should be done at the time? I imagine that the vent lines should be replaced - is there a recommended hose type? Can the sensor be tested without dropping...

    Conversion to sequential turn signals

Has anyone been able to convert the models with three tail lights per side (Like the 1971 Chrysler 300) to sequential turn signals? I know you would have to convert the center two lights which are stop/running lights only to stop/running/ and turn signal lights first. I know that there are kits...

    '71 300 coupe driver's window restoration

Anyone want to guess at which components will need to be replaced? What is a good source for them? I am guessing I will need new guides and wipers at minimum. The window needs adjustment as well because at full up the front and back edges are not properly aligned with the back quarter window and...

Slow starter hot restart - voltage seems good.

My '71 300 is exhibiting slow starting during a hot start - that is after the engine is warmed up, and stopped, then restarted after sitting several minutes. The voltage displayed on an aftermarket gauge looks good. After having the battery checked, are there any other common issues to check...

Looking for the end of a vacuum line. (Where does it go?)

I think I have found a cut in the vacuum hose from the vacuum reservoir on the fender of my '71 300. But I can't quite tell where the hose routes to so I can replace it. Does anyone know where this routes to? It is the line with the green stripe. Thank you, Todd

    Windshield wiper arm removal

I'm trying to figure out how to remove the windshield wiper arm on my '71 300. I found the little lever you can pull out part way from under the arm, but what do you do after you pull it out? The arm does not seem loose at all after pivoting the arm. thanks, Todd

How to clear debris out of cowl intake?

I was washing my 1971 Chrysler 300 and noticed a large pool of water gathering under the grill below the windshield cowl. I saw that there was quite a bit of debris, leaves and such, so I wanted to remove that and check any drains. The question is how to do that? Do I need to remove the lower...

'71 C body - where to add radiator overflow bottle?

I have a '71 Chrysler with 440 and this came without a radiator overflow bottle. As far as I can tell, this was not factory installed until 1973. In my haste, I bought a c-body overflow bottle on ebay for a '73 thinking that I would just be able to copy what they did in '73. To my surprise, the...

Looking for two-pronged temp sensor for '71 Chrysler and alternate location.

My '71 300 had an aftermarket gauge kit put in using the original temperature sensor hole. The wires for the original sensor were left unconnected. What does this switch do? /71 Chrysler

Easy question - what does this switch do above the A/C controls? I can't read the text on the switch? Map light maybe? Did any of the non-Imperial chryslers come with electric antennas? I noticed on the Imperial panel they have an ant switch in addition to this one. thank you, Todd

Testing lighted ignition switch - 71 Chrysler 300

'71 Chrysler with the A01 LIGHT GROUP - this says it includes a time delay ignition switch light. Mine is not working. I am guessing the first step is to test the bulb under the cap, but if that does not work, what would you check next? I am guessing there must be a relay somewhere. thanks, Todd

Trying to identify which bulkhead connector my car uses. '71 Chrysler 300

I found the bulkhead connector in my '71 Chrysler 300. I'm surprised there have not been issues with shorts from water dripping. (Had that problem with an old '93 BMW 325 where the ECU was placed right under the hood drain.) Does anyone have any tips for cleaning the connector and connections...

    Replacing carpet question

I need to replace the black carpet in my 1971 Chrysler 300. What is the best type of pile to get? It looks like the kind in the car now is just a loop carpet. Also, do people usually install padding or sound deadening on the floor-pan when installing new carpet? If so, what padding do you use...
