66 Newport Finally on the Road!

Yes! Thats awesome. First car I got back in my mid 20's was a 1969 valiant with a slant 6. Drove that thing about 64 miles a day for 4 years straight. It was a piece, but man it just wouldn't die. Also had a 67 newport custom 2 door that was a killer man. That thing was sweet. Had to part...

66 Newport Finally on the Road!

Thank you, and I appreciate those words man. I try to not sweat the small stuff generally in life, but sometimes you just get caught up lol. I'll be doing my first highway run tomorrow so we'll see how that goes.

66 Newport Finally on the Road!

Found these from a local hot rot guy where I am at. I think they are from later model Chryslers. Def not from 66 but I thought they looked cool.

66 Newport Finally on the Road!

As requested... The bottom trim sort of erks me. Car was definitely in an accident at some point and the aftermarket pieces don't look/line up right. Not at the top of my list though. Have a leaky steering gear that will need to be addressed over the winter.

66 Newport Finally on the Road!

Scooped the 66 up this past December and was in no rush. Just tackled what I could when I had some time to spare. Finally got plates yesterday and I'm on the road. Stoked. Thanks to those that chimed in with info and tips. Much appreciated.

Power Steering - what is this?

Replacing seals on my PSP and this mesh screen was floating around in the reservoir. I am assuming it acts as some sort of filter that belongs in the port pictured below?

What Kind Of Wheels Are These?

I was surfing the boards and came across this picture...had to do a double take. This car is a dead ringer for the 67 I used to have...might even be? I purchased from a guy up in Rockport MA. back in 2010. Original owner was a one Lloyd Bundy. I sold the car back in 2018 to a guy from NH I...

    Turn signal question

Got it from NAPA - Part NO HL6571. Messed with the old one a bit, but as you can see that spring is just too funky to sit properly. If I recall correctly the wheel was in fact plastic, but all good now. Was a blown fuse so I am back in action. Electrical is definitely not my bag man...

    NOOP from MA - Hello!

The car is originally from NY actually. Glad I found this site. Back when I had my 67 I used to frequent the c body dry dock page, but doesn't seem like much is going on over there anymore.

    Turn signal question

I appreciate everyone's input. Found the actual turn signal flasher, and that was indeed the culprit. I ended up replacing the headlight switch yesterday as well...dimmer for dash lights was touch and go, and would make a grinding type noise when I would turn it. Half the spring was not...

    Turn signal question

Well, here is the thing...both front and back passenger side turn signals actually light up when the stalk lever is engaged, they just don't blink. I was wondering if the green blinker indicator light was out on the dash for the right turn signals, if that would cause that side to not blink...

    Turn signal question

Hi guys - working through some stuff on a recently acquired 1966 Chrysler Newport. Question: If the turn signal bulb behind the instrument panel is out, will that impede the flashing of the external turn signals? When I turn on the separate flasher switch, they blink at all 4 corners...
