    Electric window motors

Just fitted the Dorman 742-300 to my 1965 New Yorker. It works fine although listed as only suitable for later cars. Only fettling needed was some spacer washers to get it located correctly on the plate it bolts to. Made a video of the install and put it up here:

    65 New Yorker windshield

Here is a video of screen being installed on my 65 New Yorker in case it helps anyone in the future. I couldn't find much online so filmed it. When people retire there is a danger such skills will be lost.

    C Body windshield replacement

Thanks. I found some tips on the way the side and top trim clips work from watching this video on screen removal from a Plymouth Valiant and assumed mine would be pretty similar. I showed it to the installers to give them some idea how the trim might come off and it did turn out to be helpful...

    C Body windshield replacement

I couldn't find a video anywhere on how to do this on a C Body, in my case a 1965 New Yorker, so here goes, I made one in case it helps anyone in the future. The two professional fitters did not mind me filming them do the main steps. As these skills may die out as people retire I thought it...

Steering column cover bolt size ? '65 New Yorker

It's OK I worked out. If it helps anyone they are 5/32" which is a slightly unusual size but you can find them.

Steering column cover bolt size ? '65 New Yorker

Hi all, Under my steering column is a big cast alloy cover plate held in place with about 6 small bolts. Over here everything is metric. I am missing some of the bolts, can anyone tell me what size they are to save me ordering the wrong ones? Thanks

I put a quick video up on youtube here in case it ever helps anybody else.

DIY pressure bleed adapter for circular reservoir on '65 New Yorker

Hi, I live in the UK and so while I can get a pressure bleeder quite easily, the standard screw-on reservoir cap adapter that comes with it will be useless for an old American car. I have seen clamp-on ones for the commoner rectangular American old-style reservoirs but on the '65 New Yorker the...

    Twisted power steering pump

I did fix this in the end. Not as straightforward as I thought. There was a crack forming in front part of alloy that upper main mounting bolt goes through. The bolt had actually bent too. In addition as others here have said, the holes around the lower bolt joining the two halves that form a...

65 New Yorker rear lights: inner red glass domes turning yellow

Interestingly the one replacement light cluster I managed to find, that looks exactly the same from the back of the car, i.e. clear lenses, has one double filament bulb with the red glass dome over it, and one single filament bulb for the backup light. On my car, on each side, there are two...

65 New Yorker rear lights: inner red glass domes turning yellow

Interestingly two of the red glass domes are completely red and the other two are red around the sides, turning yellow at the top of the dome. As you say the clear plastic outer lenses are ultra-fragile and have to be handled with great care. One of mine was totally shattered and held together...

65 New Yorker rear lights: inner red glass domes turning yellow

I can do that and use a mix of red and amber bulbs. I just wondered if the red glass domes gradually turning yellow was a known 'thing'.

65 New Yorker rear lights: inner red glass domes turning yellow

Hi, As I live in the UK I am working out the best way to create yellow flashing turn signals as red ones are not OK here. I have the one-year only 1965 clear rear lenses, which have the inner red glass domes covering the bulbs. However, I have noticed that my standard red domes are more orange...

    Twisted power steering pump

Thanks for the link. I can probably fabricate something along those lines this end, and will also buy a replacement rubber piece to go between the two parts.

    Twisted power steering pump

Brilliant, thanks, that is really helpful and fits completely with what I am seeing. Happy New Year.

    Twisted power steering pump

Hi everyone. Just acquired a '65 New Yorker. The power steering pump seems to be working OK but I notice it vibrates on its mount quite a lot on startup and also if you look at the pulley/belt from above it looks as if the pulley is actually at an angle relative to the belt, which would be bad...
